What do you replace it with?

so... i am coming to the conclusion that pretty much all of the doctrinal stuff that i have believed for 25/30 years is built on a house of cards and it's about to come crashing down.

question is what do i replace it with?.

my intellectual head says that that whole thing is junk and there is almost certainly no god at all.

I am stating and writing this in the most sincere and honestly curious way as possible. This statement: “Christ is the truth... Christ is the image and word of God."

When and from where did you learn that?

For me, it came from the Bible. I believe for most (all?) that is where such a teaching originates. Whether you read it directly from the Bible or were taught that from someone who read the Bible.

Ignoring or looking over the Bible then, when you find something that "does not comport with the image Christ gives us of God" is just picking and choosing what you want to believe or follow from the Bible, is it not? Which conclusively then, could not the same ignore/look over type reasoning be applied to any and all Bible teachings, including the one of “Christ is the truth….Christ is the image and word of God”?

I'm honestly and genuinely being sincere with this inquiry. If the above logic is incorrect, please help me to understand from where or from whom and when did you obtained the belief that "Christ is the truth...Christ is the image and word of God."

Our "Spiritual Mother"

in case you missed it --this years dc pointed out that jw's need to direct people to (direct quote) "our spiritual mother the organization" !!!.

jehovah being our father and the organization being our spiritual mother!

i guess we all knew that the society was always "mother" huh..

My first convention in 20+ years - observations

well, got this brochure inviting me to a district convention to the public talk.

oddly, the time for the public talk was nowhere on the invite, instead they had a location and the start/end times for all 3 days.

unusual.

In a nutshell quoting the Watchtower: "...the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation"

Yup...they can teach just about anything and most of the sheep just swallow it down.

What they fail to address is that there are so many more single women than single men in the WTS, that each year that ticks by from the age of 18 there are fewer and fewer single men, that while a 35 year old man can wed an 18 year old girl and little is said, that if a 35 year old woman marries an 18 year old man, a great deal is said...it's a scandal. Even an 85 year old man can wed a 22 year old woman at Bethel, only months after his first wife dies, and no one wonders why she did it...

I remember a CO where something like that occurred. I believe his name is Covack or Kovac...something like that. His wife passed away from Cancer (I believe); at her funeral he swore to wait for her until 'the new system'. A few months later he was dating this much younger 20-something. He was either in his 50's or 60's. A few more months go by and they're married. Many of the older ones in the organization - especially the women - were not happy and quite upset over this information especially in light of his vow at his former wife's funeral.

He transferred out of circuit soon thereafter, not sure what happen to him after that.

Mother, Father, Brother, Son... just words

I hear ya...May of this year marked 4 years since I heard the voices of my mother, brother, and two sisters. Even longer since I have seen them. Still, I do not regret disassociating myself from the Watchtower Society. It's a cult or high level control group at best. I refuse to support it in any way. I would not be able to look myself in the mirror.

Despite the loss and missing them terribly, it is the best thing I have ever done.

i have been trying to wrap my head around the talk that introduced the slave as our mother?

the brothers at bethel are worried that we are not treating our spiritual mother with respect.

jehovah is our father, the faithful slave (the governing body) is our spiritual mammy.

You would think garbage like that they would want buried with the past. Amazing how desperate and the desire to apply the choke hold on the members.

Bathroom Designs to avoid Mold?

in my home, bleach has been applied on the upper part painted sheetrock wall in the bathroom shower area because of mold 3 times in 4 years.

actually i am tired of it.

i always run the exhaust fan everytime i take a shower.

Bleach or/and isopropyl alcohol away mold (As best as possible).

Apply 2-3 coats of this over the entire bathroom (Non-tiled) ceiling and walls:

(5 years protection with both. More expensive, but semi-gloss would probably be best for bathroom - the price of semi-gloss is for 2 not 1)

Then paint over (if desired) with whatever color(s).
