i thought i would share some of my observations on counting field service time, reports, etc.
and how those reports are viewed, to those that are still so fixated on numbers.. i served as secretary on the service committee for many years, and have seen it all!.
i was really disheartened when wt changed the requirement for aux pioneering to allow for 30 hrs, instead of the 50 it has been for so long.

as the information age is apon us and it doesn't take that much information to easily prove this new light by the governing body granting them absolute loyalty and power is a blatant power grab by a bunch of over the hill ego maniacs i see a revolt in the making..

| I always "temporary pioneered" in the summer between school years and it was 60 hours a month then. I always got in all my time and recorded correctly. However, my brother Jeff who was a regular pioneer was never out in service as much as I was and even our mother commented that she didn't know when he got his time in because he was always home in bed until noon. | |

| Reports that you submit for your "hours" in the Field Service at the end of the month seem to be an "end all" qualification for servants, elders, pioneers, etc. Most would assert that the number of hours you put in defines your level of "spirituality". Pure rubbish. It doesnt mean a thing in reality. Its all a way to garner praise for yourself, to be "cool", to get your name read from the platform, to be just that much better than the next guy. washington -- a narrowly divided supreme court ruled monday that police can collect dna from people arrested but not yet convicted of serious crimes, a tool that more than half the states already use to help crack unsolved crimes.. this dna sample will of course go into a huge database similar to fingerprints.. .

I want to agree with you on that. It goes both ways around. As long as someone is innocent, there would be no concern to worry. I strongly supports DNA test to help law enforcement in resolving unresolved crimes.

As a former Jehovah's witnesses, most of our experiences within the Watchtower cult organisation are different yet it amazes me to find out that some accounts are similar. Its safer to say that there are similar themes that we all experience such as overload, control, feeling quilty, oppression,doubts, confusion etc.
Tech49: I have a good advise for you. You and wife might start working on a book. You may contact Barbara Anderson or Randy Watters for advise just an idea. Your account would be very inspiring to all of us and those still within.

i have a theory as to why elders' wives gossip so much.
i believe a big part of it has to do with the conversation running dry (between themselves and their elder husbands) after so many years of marriage.
since they don't get to spend too much "quality time" together (because of the elder husband's hamster wheel schedule), when they do have some intimate time alone, the elder's wives will invaribly attempt to engage their husbands in any kind of interchange.

That is true. That was my observation. I would often see an elder wives sitting in the kingdom hall wating for their head after regular meetings were over.

Calebs Airplane, I think, you have nothing to apologize. The gossip problem within the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is so huge and serious. Because so and so did not experience it does in no way diminish it. Generalization is a perfect way to portray how serious this social issue is.

for instance i already mentioned the late 70's to early 80's segregation in the kingdom halls, but in the 90's clear through to now for instance:.
at bethel in the mid 90's if you listened to or were found with rap music you were gone, no questions asked.
| It backfired because I wrote a letter to the Watchtower, and among other things, I wrote the racist comments that I had heard from the elders and m.s. Two months later a black elder who had learned Spanish was transferred to that congregation. He didn't stay for long, but I strongly believed that my letter caused the transfer of that elder. The elder who gave me the study was in the end demoted and stayed "out of service" for several years. | |

You might have tried to do something and I want to give you a pat on the shoulder. Unfortunately, the Watchtower is the embodiment of overt and covert racism. Its the enabler of these men and indirectly encourages them to behave that way. The watchtower know very well that these men compared to other churches, work for free and therefore, should be treated with kid gloves. Iam so grateful that since moving out of this enslaving organisation, I have learnt alot. Indeed, knowledge of power and power liberates.

I want to let you know that a few years go, I visited Peterson in New York. I had a guided tour of the facility by male brother. Believe me, I was profoundly shocked to see some subtle racism at work. About five to eight smilling young African American males were ironing clothes in the loundry room. It was as if their assigned department. All were wearing ties but no suits. The room had no AC and was hot inside. These people had fake smiles. Yes, that was example of menial jobs black people are assigned to.
