How Much of an Impact is Being Made by Young JW' s Leaving the Cult ?
by flipper inwe have read threads where statistics show that 2 out of every 3 people raised as jehovah's witnesses eventually leave once they get in their 20's to 30's and out on their own.
my children and my nieces and nephews are between the ages of 21 to 35 .
out of those 8 people - 4 of them have completely stopped attending meetings .

Of the ones I grew up with in the congregation, ALL but me have left. And here I am trying a fade. I was considered the 'good witness girl' growing up, so much so that the young ones in the Kh treated me badly at the meetings and at school. They all left by the time they were about 15. I kept on going and at almost 30 falling away.
I think alot of people become disillusioned with 'the truth'. They also want to have the freedom everyone else enjoys, without feeling guilty.
Lifelonghumanist, I was 'counselled' many times for having a skirt that sat on my knees Apparently it was too short. I was all of 13 when I was first hassled for it and it continued well into my late teens. By 19 I was ready to leave the religion, all because people were so intent on focusing on petty things like the length of my skirt. I was fed up. I expressed my despair to my mum and brother, and they talked me back into staying. Maybe I'm a coward and that's what keeps me 'in' so to speak.

How do scientists measure time? I've always wondered how they can say a dinosaur lived 'this' long ago or that planet is 'that old' etc.

If you are still in, do you wish sometimes to be DF?
by Albert Einstein infor a year now(after 18 active years) iam 100% anti jw, hate meetings and all the jw stuff drives me crazy..... but my wife (that i trully love) and 100% of her family is still actively in.... i work hard to deprogram my wife and to make sure my little kids will never become members of any cult..... i told my wife, if she will consult elders and they would come over to talk to me, i would be df on that evening.
she believes that, so she doesnt seek any "help".. iam inactive and visit meetings about 2 times a month, just to acompany my wife... hate kh, hate to listen the bs there, to see the zombie faces.... sometimes i wish to be df ... it would create some troubles, but from that day i would never go to kh, probably be shunned by the zombie people, who are able to talk only about "how healthy it is to eat carrot, because there was an article about it in awake.....".. life would be much easier after all.... your experience/opinion?.

I would stop going altogether too. Being one foot in, one foot out is frustrating and depressing. And although you're probably 100% 'out' in your mind, by going to the occasional meeting, you're setting yourself up for a fall because it goes against everything you now believe/think. I hope you can come to some sort of decision :)

Hi - new kid on th block
by nearlyfree ini have been looking at this website for about 2 months now and feel i am now ready to say hi and intoduce myself.i dont want to give out too much info at this point in time as i still am in the org, but have only been to 2 meetings since the district convention in august and last time i went out on service was in march.
i was basically raised in the truth as my parents became jw when i was 2. i was married in my late teens and after 21 years of being married to a total control freak he left me (yay).
anyway since me ex left, i had been doing a lot of thinking about being a witness, and i wasnt really going to a lot of meetings - just didnt feel like it.

Welcome nearlyfree!
Definitely use the 'I have been stumbled' bit. Alot of us have experienced being stumbled from mismanagement by elders. (Don't know if you read my story, but my ex wasn't Df and should have been). And yes, there will be an Aussie meet up in Sydney we're hoping. Go to the thread and see if you can join us on facebook :)
Look forward to getting to know you.

So they are saying not to learn another language? Then why do they encourage ones to join for instance, chinese or spanish speaking congregations? Or to go abroad to help 'where the need is great'....should they not learn the local language? Or are they discouraging the regular publisher from learning a language so they don't go into further study? Hypocritical.

how to the dubs explain away the dino's?
by highdose inhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1223244/colossal-sea-monster-unearthed-eaten-t-rex-breakfast.html.
you can't ignore this, yet there is nothing about it in the bible.
i noticed that the jw's seem to just brush over it, since they clearly can't explain it away or pretend its false!.
