To the "Believers" - A Sincere Question...
by AGuest into: "non-believers" (i am speaking to the "adult" among you as there are some who simply won't be able to resist... and you know who you are), i would like to ask that you please refrain from commenting, if you would be so kind.
if possible, it would be greatly appreciated if you would hold your comments for another thread, please.
thank you... and may you have peace!.

My mom assigned an elder as her Health Care Proxy and now dr. won't speak to us

If hospital won't notify you about what is happening with your mother, then tell them to send any and all bills for uncovered medical expenses to the elder(s) named in the proxy. If they think they are able to make reliable reasoned decisions based on their bible (OR WHATEVER) the WTBTS is using to guide them. They they are fully capable of paying the bills.

Impossible to concentrate!
by highdose inlooking back on my time as a jw i found that i sat at the meetings just willing the time to go past and just trying to get through it.
there would be a blip were i would concentrate on getting my answer in, just so that others didn't look down on me even more than they already did, but after that i would go back to sleep.. the thing is i was a very serious jw, and really did want to pay attention... i just found it to be impossible, 5 mins at the max and then drift away.... i even perfected the art of staring intently at the speaker while having my mind very much elsewhere.
and i wonder now how many jw's are actauly listening at all?.

Living Well Is Not Only "the Best Revenge"...
by BabaYaga in...it is also a good example.
as such a good example... your loved ones who are still in may turn to you for assistance or advice on occasion.. live as well as you can... educate yourself in everything that peaks your curiosity... and work on responding in love, not bitterness, whenever possible.. their adage of "being won without a word" works both ways..

Living well is a blessing that some enjoy, My family is doing okay, we don't lack, but for sure there are those at the hall who view us with the jaundiced eye. And there are hints from the platform about helping your brother and sister etal. When the opportunity arrives, I have always mentioned that it would be great if the WTBTS would quit building things and donate some of that money they received through donation to help those in need in the congregations. I almost laughed when I did this as we all know they the WTBTS could care less about how anyone but themselves are doing.

Adjusting to illness & old age
by dozy inthe point is sometimes made in these forums that the societies constant insistence that the end is nigh has meant that so many jws fail to make adequate financial provisions for their retirement.. however , ive noticed an increasing trend amongst jws in middle age to elderly ones that they also havent made adequate emotional provisions , as they have been constantly told that they would never get old in this system.
most non-jws , aware that sooner or later they will experience a deterioration in their health, are mentally better prepared to cope with this.
with many jws it seems to throw them completely.. a good friend , aged around 50 , has just been diagnosed with a fairly serious illness.

I believe many of the older ones stay becasue they have nothing else around to calm their fears of whats coming. i.e. death, and there ain't going to be any resurrection, so religion is their opium to help them cope, They ignore the lies, and hope for the best while knowing deep down inside its all nonsense. They knowl they have been lied too and the just ignore it. Thinking that the asshole GB will really give a crap about them. They would realize if they just looked that their is no help for the aged, sick, destitute, the hungry thel poor or anyone else in this organization.
