  What would Christianity look like without Paul's writings?

  a thowoff from ren's thread obviously.. i am firmly convinced that what is called christianity today - is actually just pauline theology.. if you removed all the portions of the nt that are attributed to paul, and actually accepted as primary the words of jesus and his direct followers - the worldwide movement would look far different doctrinally.

  and as far as the fundy's go - they would be lost without the deep judgmentalism and rules oriented thinking of this writer [whomever he really was].. if ren's thread could go 15 pages and counting - why not this one?.

  thoughts?.

  You DON'T have to believe that if you believe in Jesus. You would have to question here what is the Holy Spirit, how does it operate etc....We have to open our minds waaaaaaay open to truly 'get' Jesus words of awareness. It doesn't fit in this little WT box.....wf

  I can't express how thankful I am my kids were never baptised. My kids are 18 and 13, they were raised for 13 years in this org with me and an 'unbelieving father' although he supported our efforts. My son actually started researching JW's at 15 and it started something in him. I never knew about the research and he never became rebellious or anything. It just made me think about how much power we have over our children and how much love they have for us and the need for guidance that they will do almost anything we ask! Although we lived a fairly balanced life in the org, as far as those standards go, I still can't believe how it overtook us. When I was fading I was worried the most about my 13 year old, and her friends etc.....she is doing the best! She's made all new friends and is loving life. My son and I struggle socially, it will take some more time.

  There are serious, tragic stories on these boards about people and their children and what this org has done to them. Breaks my heart completely. If anyone has young kids and they are thinking about getting out, the sooner the better for their sake!.......wf

  if y'all can stand one more dc thread, i thought i'd post some miscellaneous rumbling ramblings about this year's edition.. to protect my privacy, i'd prefer not to disclose the location - pm me if interested.. ***** attendance, as in all other years i can remember, was much lower on friday than the other days.

  in fact, the attendance was 22% lower on friday than on sunday.

  so, as usual, they hammered home the point about the importance of attending all 3 days....on friday!

  Jesus said there is one Father. That's it. If congregations were essential to life then why did Jesus not set one up or give some clear cut instructions to his original 12 apostles? He never came close to it. He knew that if people "heard what he was saying, and got the sense of it" they would have no need for the leadership of men. Reniaa, do you not trust that you could live a moral, loving life without the WT leadership over you? I could and do! Listen to Jesus words, really listen. It is very simple, and freeing.........wf

  i just heard a few commercials on t.v.

  that made me flashback to how we were taught and trained in the org.. when i compare the two now there are so many similarities.

  both of them seem nothing more than sales pitches.. to try and get people motivated to buy their products that some would normally not think twice about even.

  what is the one thing that made you want to NEVER go back???

  for me it was when my elder dad put brusies on my arm, drug me down the hallway making me hit my head and broke my finger which resulted in surgery...and then he blamed it all on me!!!!

  made me go to the meeting with my cast all druged up on pain killers and tell everyone that asked me what happened that it was an accident.

  The last thing I went to was a circuit assembly, six months ago, I had both of my children there, we had been hurt by the brothers and we sucked it up and went. I sat there with my kids, all of us looking out over this crowd of 1500 people, and the robotic, zombie-like state, struck us profound for the first time. We were seeing things and hearing things like we never had before because our eyes were open. Then at the baptism talk we heard the questions for the first time again and just looked at eachother. And the phoney friendships and predictable behavior of everyone.......I knew that weekend was my last, I couldn't stand it anymore neither could my kids. We haven't been to anything since. Really it's not the doctrines for us , it's the selfish, unloving, phoney love that we couldn't take anymore............wf
