you almost have to feel sorry for people in this position. for most of us, we were there and have since broken free or are attempting to break free from that very same pressure. it is difficult to cut ties with someone, especially when the pressure is from others to make the cut. hopefully the request is to keep lines of communication open and not to cut ties privately.

Is There Anyone You Truly HATE???
by minimus ini thought about that question myself and i don't think i really hate anyone.
i guess i could hate bin laden or some nameless evil terrorist but no one comes to mind..

"Short Notice" Talks or Demo's
by Think About It indid you ever have to give a "short notice" talk or demonstration?
didn't it put alot of pressure on you to come up with something, because someone else cancelled out or you could have been informed sooner?.
i was all the time put in this situation.

Most Livable Cities in the World - is Yours on the List?
by sammielee24 inin case the olympics weren't drawing enough attention to city of vancouver, this year's economist intelligence unit's list of the world's most livable cities has declared the canadian city the number one urban area in which to settle down.. if you are surprised, well, you shouldn't be, due to the fact that vancouver is a consistent high achiever in these polls.
what is it about the city that makes it so great?
according to the economist's gulliver blog, canada and australia do exceptionally well in the eiu rankings due to their perfect scores for health care and education.. some of the other rankings might be more surprising, however - for example, what does one make of the fact that detroit (40th) beats both london (54th) and new york (56th)?.

Good books against evolution?
by bohm inafter reading 'the greatest show on earth' by dawkins, i have been intrigued by how biblical literalists explain the many findings that seem to support evolution and contradict various parts of the bible.
in doing to i have browsed around on aig but i have generally felt let down by the quality of evidence and interpretations they present.
so i would like to ask all non-evolutionists: if i wanted to learn more about the physical case against evolution, what books should i read?

Did you find JW's infecting others just so that they didn't miss a meeting?
by highdose ingive you an example: there was a hoiler than thou, devout couple in my cong who had a son.
the son aged about 5 had chicken pox, they took him to the meetings, never missing one so that he would learn that you did not miss a meeting!.
the result was several of the infirm and eldery ones contracted either pox or associated illness like shingles.

i thought it was horrible when they put a young single ms in a car with a bunch of single pioneer sisters once. all of the sudden, those poor sisters started getting sick in the morning and had to buy looser fitting dresses after a few months.
