Do you have GOSSIPERS and those with STRONG PERSONALITIES that "control" the congregation?
by BonaFide ini bet a lot of others have, and its strange how so many are powerless to do anything.. one sister i know was married to another jw.
he was unfaithful, she was crushed, he wasn't disfellowshipped, she forgave him, he was cruel, finally she committed adultery to get out of it.
they divorced.

As a Witness, you know that very few people are going to be acceptable to God. Even within the congregation, you know there will be those who will fall away from the faith and won't make it through Armageddon. It becomes important to measure yourself against those surrounding you. Somebody has to be saved, and if you are better than all the people you know, it might as well be you. So it helps to look for the negative and put people down and get them in trouble. Your chances of getting into the new system go up.

They use their STRONG PERSONALITY to intimidate those that are trying to be "obedient" to the Organization and be "humble." They imply that they are the spiritual ones, when in reality, they are just the loud, pushy ones who derive joy from controlling others.
Hell yes, I know these people! They are almost always sisters. These sisters have a strong desire for power and this is the only way they can get it. I hated themwhen I was a kid. My mother was an introvert, yet somehow she always ended up friends with these nasty people.

Why were you baptized?
by bluecanary ininspired by another thread.. i was baptized at 12 years old.
i had a cousin, two years older than me, who was prettier, more outgoing and more popular in the hall than i was.
i couldn't beat her at any of that stuff, but i figured i could be a better jw than she was.

Baptism annulment. ???
by Anti-Christ ina friend of mine is looking to get a baptism annulment.
this person da a few years ago and certain family member suggested a baptism annulment so that they can have a "normal" relationship.
how does this work?

The only time I've heard of a baptism being anulled is in the case of a person who was either still engaging in wrongdoing at time of baptism, or not in control of their faculties at time of baptism. I knew a guy who had to get baptized a second time because he was high the first.

It's not about winning the battles, it's about winning the war. It's all right to strategically let some things go.

Inspired by another thread.
I was baptized at 12 years old. I had a cousin, two years older than me, who was prettier, more outgoing and more popular in the hall than I was. I couldn't beat her at any of that stuff, but I figured I could be a better JW than she was. One day in service, an older sister asked her if she was going through the baptismal questions. No, but I anounced loudly that I was. Not one to be beat, she immediately started the questions and we got baptized on the same day, though I was nervous enough to hang at the back of the line with the other girls, and she raced to the front of the line so she could get baptized first.
You can see how valid it is for a 12 year old to make such a life-altering vow.
Why were YOU baptized?

hat tipping is of Satanic origin and it causes divorce
by lilyflor inhat tipping and rising when a woman leaves the table or enters a room......wt52 april 15 qfr.
i dare say satan's ways are as mysterious as god's.
(i now have to wonder if letting a woman on or off the elevator first is part of satan's schemes).

Birthday Celebrations & other shenanigans
by homeschool inwell, here's my latest "thing"...i plan on speaking with my siblings & their mates in the near future.
i have told them that i have questions regarding some doctrines, mainly stuff like birthdays, mother's day, father's day, etc.
my hubby has some questions for them regarding their wacky blood doctrine (but i wont cover that in this thread).

God wants us to use this freedom, not as an inducement for selfish cravings, but to train our perceptive powers to distinguish right from wrong.
In other words, you're still expected to make the right choice. And there are consequences for not making it. Don't worry, the GB will let you know what that choice is.
