I tend to agree, Metatron.

The US consulted NATO re military action and article 15 (?) i.e. the communial response by members when one is attacked. The UN was not considered although it condemned the WTC attack. I doubt the UN would have advocated the bombing of Afghanistan. So I also agree the UN is a dead duck in prophecy.

The Brooklyn boneheads have the UN destroying world religion...when it maintains the persons 'right to believe.'

Oh well, guess there's always time for more 'new light' as the end aint coming any time soon.

So far as Jehovah sifting anything......most people have left because of the flip-flops of the WTS. They have no idea of where they are. It has all the mucky fingerprints of a man made debacle!

Puzzled still - What is BUMMING upto a car?

14 years or so ago, when i used to go around with my best mates steve and keith in west sussex, england, a frind of ours from one of the brighton congregations got a public reproof for bumming up to a car or having sex with it in some peculiar way.

has anyone ever heard of this before, cos we could never quite work out what that involved no matter how much we tried to work out what he'd been up to?.

any offers to put my puzzlement to rest?

a british compliment ... your'e all soooo preposterously predantic!!.

one thing that always made me question jw thinking so much as a kid, were those 3 dots in quotes taken from professionals in the magazines.

that space i always knew was a misrepresentation of facts and it interested me highly that to verify such comments was always most difficult in that position.. that lil space i reckon was one of the reasons for my very first initial doubts at around 14. i would always go further in reading than most, past the scripture given in the body of the public talk to check out whether that was in fact what the scriptures were saying compared to the brothers comments.. hooray and cheers for a questioning mind.

take a break.... close your eyes.....and go back in time.... before the internet and dvd's.

before semi-automatic machine guns, joyriders and crack .... before sega, ps2 or super nintendo...way back..... i'm talking about hide and seek in the park.

the corner shop, hopscotch, butterscotch, skipping, handstands, football with an old can, bulldog, beano, twinkle and roly poly, hula hoops, jumping in enormous puddles and building dams... when astro wars, 'computer' tennis, pac-man and donkey-kong ruled.... the smell of the sun and fresh cut grass.

Childhood memories are fun! But I don't subscribe to every thing being great and better! Remember school fights! One school would fight another!? Don't seem to hear that so much of that now.

Being terrorised as a 'first year'.

Changing school and being the 'new boy'.

The 'nit-nurse'!

I was never conscious about clothes until I was about 10 or so...and then I realised that other kids were dressed better than me. Lived in houses with gardens and had good holidays!

How the JWs helped me

all of us have had negative experiences as a result of leaving the witnesses, some much worse than others.

many here, have expressed a bitterness and an anger over loosing so many "wasted" years.

while these are natural feelings, i think there are several positives we can dwell on as well.

I think there are some good things about JW upbringing. I've left but it taught me some good things. Reading/studying is easy....relatively easy anyway. Anyone thats had to study 'Gods Kingdom of A Thousand Years Has Approached' can take on most stuff!

The lack of concern over race is also good.

You have to make the most of life and get on with it. Crying over spilt milk is unproductive.

lots of jehovah's witnesses all over the world can be found in prisons all over the world, and the question is why.

these figures are from 1991 to 1998. interesting figures from england - because these were not in prison because of the military issue!.

I suppose the quick answer is NO! The document referred to lists a 100 or so in '98. Its less than 1% of the membership in the UK. It means 99% are not at 'Her Majesty's Pleasure'. It seems to make a case out for the WTS followers being law abiding?!

Logic of God escapes me

in past posts i have placed god on trial by questioning two issues: 1) the issues in the graden of eden, and the severe punishment of the entire human race for a very minor act of eating fruit.

2) god ordering the extermination of entire cities, including every last man, woman, child, baby, and even livestock.. results: the result on this forum have be mixed as expected, but showed a range from suport to tryuionmg top explain these events with reasoning, logic, or plausibilities.

some felt that i might be losing my faith.

Amazing

As always there are too many questions and too few answers. Consequently there is no point in being 'categoric' about belief. I don't believe there is absolute truth in the Bible...or any other writings for that matter. If there is a god that wants us to do anything particular....he should let us know about it. Otherwise I think we can hardly be blamed for lack of belief etc. I prefer unbelief that credulity.
