I thought this little news item from our neck of the woods might make you feel better. You are not alone!
February 2, 2002 - I'm not sure what in the minds of some St. Albert teens (near Edmonton) today who accosted a 10-year-old boy and killed his dog by hanging it from a slide by its leash. I'd hate to think of what they're going to do as adults.
February 5, 2002 - It turns out that the kid from St. Albert was lying to cover up the fact that he accidentally killed his own dog. Talk about a good example of tangled webs and practicing deception. His little lie became international news.

Come on! NOTHING is Going To Refrom the WT!
by D8TA inthis whole "reform" nonsense is driving me up the wall.. nothing is going to "reform" the wtbts.
nobody is going to "reform" the wtbts.. crying out loud, be realistic about this.
we have a group of men who have at least some faith & belief that what they do is "divinely" approved, and they have 6 million suckers who follow.
-

I hope for reform for several reasons. First of all, I have concluded that the organization as it stands does great harm to many people. It is unlikely, however, that the WTS will disappear any day soon. If we can't KILL the monster, maybe we can pull out some of his teeth. He then does less damage. Fewer people harmed. I agree that reform would not entice a former member back. However, with six million members IN, I think it unlikely all are going "apostate" any day soon. It would be better if people who are IN or STUCK IN, were in a kinder, gentler organization. Wouldn't it be great if they were not threatened with DESTRUCTION if they wandered a bit from the party line? Wouldn't it be great if a faithful witness was not banned from associating with a loved one who has left the society?
I agree with what metatron said,
Reform comes from:
1) the threat of legal action and loss of money
2) public humiliation and exposure of the organization
3) - and least of all - the effect on publishers - who are willing dupes.Government intervention is worse than useless. If the government muzzles the monster, the more the monster can cry "martyr". If WT policies start hurting the pocketbook, however, I believe they WILL change. I would never have believed the Berlin Wall could come down, but it has. The World Wide Church of God reformed, at great cost to it's membership. So I know such things are possible.
Couldn't the WTS be "encouraged" toward reform - by hurting them where it matters most - the pocketbook - without using the R word?

How do you glue together a broken home
by Methof15 ini'm 17. i was disfellowshipped almost two years ago.
i am the youngest of four kids and am the only left at home.
i live with my dad who has sort of faded from the jw scene.

That is really rough, meth, to watch your family fall apart so badly. You must miss them all very much. I wish I could tell you where to buy the superglue that would put it all back together. Sad thing is, you can't change what has happened to your brother, your mom or your sisters.
You can control your life, however. Chose to live your life with love and faith, and you will be a better man, and have a better life.

Serving Shoulder to Shoulder - Jan 25 Study Articl

this was my church, and i loved it dearly.
the whispered conversations late in the night were distressing and disturbing.

sharp eyes, stichione. When we recognize these terms for what they are, they lose their power to control us. We need one another was heavily emphasized in the previous article, and it is repeated here. Is the hidden message that no one else will take care of you (since you have already cut off wordly friends and relatives)? I had noticed the heavy use of loyalty, too, and discussed it on another thread, here.
hos'-ee-os Of uncertain affinity; properly right (by intrinsic or divine character; thus distinguished from G1342, which refers rather to human statutes and relations; from G2413, which denotes formal consecration; and from G40, which relates to purity from defilement), that is, hallowed (pious, sacred, sure): - holy, mercy, shalt be.
As well, all throught the OT, a similar Hebrew word, chasiyd, is consistently translated as loyal in the NWT. I can see no need to make such a radical departure, unless the organization desires loyalty from it's sheep more than a personal divine relationship with their creator. Is holiness a foreign concept to the WT culture?

kls, I would not assume, if I were you, that you husband does not love you. Your depression may be talking. 27 years is a long time. You must know each other pretty well by now. You asked, if a jw is the only one that is going to make it in the new system and will have no memory of us why are they with us now? Are they using us till then? And my husb. says he loves me then why does he want to live without me?
Since athiests manage to have successful marriages, I think it is possible for people to love each other and be satisifed with they days they have together on earth. A lot of JW's live double lives. There is the public face they save for the KH, and the personal face they have when nobody is watching. Sure your husband can spout the party line "I can hardly wait for the new system of things.", but I bet deep down in his heart he is glad you are there to give him a squeeze in the morning and pick up his socks.

I had a tough time going to a public gym. I don't get hit on, but it was hard walking around all those beautiful bods and still feel like I belonged. I am too pudgy for beautiful people to notice me. As soon as I realized that these regulars are in to themselves, not other people, I relaxed. Those mirrors are there to track their own progress.
I exercise for my own health, and yes, it does feel great. My honey taught me the secret to avoid sore muscles. Never, never, never overdo it, and stretch. I cannot over emphasize the importance of a stretching routine. You will feel so much better afterward.

Lurkers Take Note! 'Apostacy' is Effective
by metatron inall you 'loyal' lurkers take careful note of what appeared in the watchtower recently:.
hard, cold proof that 'murmuring', 'rebellion' - and so-called 'apostacy' can force.
moral reform on the watchtower society!.

My honey was called up for jury duty last year. I suggested he check with his elders what he was to do. They told him to look it up himself, so he did. After reading an article we found on the CD a couple of times, we concluded that it is a "conscience matter". Also, the WTS will not bail you out if you are found in contempt of court. That, at least, was spelled out.
I was indignant that a society, which purports to provide guidance in all matters in dealing with the world, would leave individuals in the dark like this.
(((herself))), I am glad you lived, too.

Their Motive is Pure
by jgnat inthe following is non-apology apology for getting everything wrong since 1800 something or another.

Such deep thinkers, all! Thanks for contributing.
Out4good3 , you found a proverb lost in the mists of time. I bet people have been trying to make do on good intentions for a very long time.
Onacruise , They hide, conceal, dissemble, obfuscate, masquerade, prevaricate and equivocate. That is such a cool sentence. Try saying it ten times in a row, fast.
SaintSatan , Every WT rag I pick up claims the FDS is kinder, gentler sweeter than the rest of the world. One can say anything in print. Is that what we see, though?
Scully , if their motive is pure bullpucky, are they at least good at it?
Elsewhere , motive is irrelevant. They will be assimilated in to the borg.
Megadude , I wonder if continuation and growth of the Watchtower Society is written in to their constitution. Do they have a constitution? Have they heard that Jesus lops off unproductive branches?

JWS NOT FREE TO FALL IN LOVE
by heyfea inyou know how the society pushes every one to do more, and more, and more....and those who don't do more without a super valid reason (like you're in a coma), are considered not "spiritual", right?
ok, they also tell single brothers and sisters who are pioneers or bethelites that they should only consider marrying those with the same spiritual goals....in other words....choose some one who "loves" jehovah just as much, meaning one who preaches 120 hours a month or works in bethel,etc.....right?
....well i think it is so unfair.. it's already bad enough that we cannot look at another human being from the opposite sex because they are not witnesses (never mind that they are excellent human beings, ones that would ashame many jws)....we also have to keep from falling in love with a pioneer or bethelite (if you are not one, because he or she will not give you the time of day) or from falling in love with a mere publisher ( if you are a pioneer , because the elders will suggest to let it go, and they will try and try until you give it up)( i've witnessed a huge case...that ended in a bethelite and a pioneer dying, litterally) isn't that appaling?
