A question about shunning

i was wondering if anyone would have any comments or responses to this question:.

if one was never baptised, but is however, an active apostate, (contributing to these boards, conversing with other apostates ect) is that a reasonable cause for jw shunning, from family?

this is a question i'd love an answer to, and if anyone has any watchtower answers to this question, i'd love it if you could provide them, i'd really appreciate it.

I agree with Lucid about the "spiritual health" in danger bit...

I agree with Francois whole heartedly about them being afraid and cowardly..

I too, am a person who was never baptized (in fact, I only studied for a short time with a couple of them).. I became friends with a few, and I feel sooooo bad for them that they are 'enslaved' that I want to help them... They, of course, have no idea I am participating in this board, and we do still communicate.

Anyway, every once in a while one of my friends will drop off a WT to me, and I found this little tidbit in one recently: (Mar 1, 2002, pg 11)

Note the section "Beware of decoy lights", specifically the last sentence!!!

And then I found this in their own reasoning book (a direct quote from the bible no less):

Note the 4th paragraph on page 119, quoting from the bible at Phil 1:27-29

I asked my friends about this, "huh? You mean an apostate can cause you to lose faith, and truth in Jehovah?" They both said, "Oh yes!".. I then showed them their reasoning book, and opened their bible to Phil 1:27-29. I asked why they were afraid of apostates, as it clearly shows here in the bible, and obviously their own leaders understand this to be true as well, since they published the same scriptures in the reasoning book.

No answer form either one, so I then read ALOUD the scripture.. "... and in NO RESPECT being afraid of your opponents..."

Then I read from the WT, "... our confidence in Jehovah's word the truth, the bible, can be weakened and our faith will die"..

I attested to the fact that I have been to meetings (with them) and I heard all the apostate warnings, so I know they are taught to fear apostates. I said could they reconsile that fear with the scriptures above?

Again, no answer, and I let the matter drop.. Hopefully, if/when the time comes, I'll be able to use that scripture again :-)

I think the problem you are having is a bought of what's called cognitive dissonance.. I think you came across material that you just "know" is false, yet you cannot prove it.. The reason, because what you "know" to be false is indeed true..

I'm sorry, I feel for the pain that you are going through, as most of the people here on this board have gone through that same pain at one point..

Bleep, read slowly, and DOUBLE-CHECK everything you read, not only from this board, but also from the organization itself!!! I think you will find that people here have answers to questions that the organization won't even let you ask... Does that sound like truth?

Why would truth keep you from asking questions? More importantly, if someone has the truth, shouldn't it be able to stand up to any scrutiny? So, what is the organization so afraid of that it basically tells baptized witnesses that to question it is like questioning Jehovah himself?

Bleep, it's painful, but think about that one.. Work on that critical thinking ability, and give yourself an answer to this question...

You'll find that the only answer you can come up with is the fact that the organization is hiding something... Or, the organization is trying to purport itself as Jehovah on Earth!

So, I ask again, who are you loyal to? Jehovah or an organization?

If you QUESTION the blood doctrine, for instance, are you questioning Jehovah, or the organization? Is that Jehovah's blood doctrine? If it is Jehovah's it CANNOT change, as Jehovah never lies, and he is the same always... (Did he once change any LAW in Moses time? Did he once in Moses time ever reveal 'new light' while the Israelites were under mosiac law?).. So, if the organization says that they get new light all the time, how can it come from Jehovah?

And, if it does come from Jehovah, does that mean that the predictions that the organization made about Armageddon in 1914,1918,1925, 1941 and 1975 came from Jehovah too? If the answer is yes, then the organization is a false prophet, for those predictions didn't come true.

If the answer is no, then anyone questioning those predictions were questioning MAN, and NOT Jehovah!!!!!!

The orgainization is NOT Jehovah, nor should it be treated as such. You can have a personal relationship with Jehovah without the organization. The organization is doing everything in it's power to keep you from finding this out, however, because the second you do realize this, the organization no longer has any power over you!!!!!

Answer the above questions honestly to yourself, and get back to me...

has everyone noticed that the wtbts are always talking about jws like some kind of anthropological observer, rather than using "we" or "us".

a quick look at their website and you can see the language.

there's no "we", it's all "them", so i suppose when they get it wrong again it was "them", not "us".. when confronted with blame they can just hang them out to dry - whoever they are.

Yeah, interstingly enough, the rest of the world already knew that when the 'brothers and sisters' from God's organization didn't know that back in the 1970's...

The reason the brothers and sisters learned wasn't because Jehovah revealed it to them, it was because the WORLD revealed it to them..

Or, if you want to, you can claim that Jehovah revealed it to them, but then I'll have to go into my discourse on false prophets..

the governing body may be too old to teach sex education.

but they are wise in other matters.. i have made a new topic since i slaughtered the book in the last topic of raymond franz.

do not forget that he made a mistake in being a 100% governing body thinker.. no organization at its early stages can live up to jehovah's expectations and no one is perfect.. please list some good ideas, ethics that the governing body has done here.

Tonight's Internet Meeting Part

i just had to go to meeting tonight to hear the material on the internet.

it was the usual stuff about pornography, many scriptures and three mentions of how jehovah was giving this material to the slave to give to us at this time, so there must be a reason.

of course, satan got three mentions too as one who is trying to ensnare us into abusing the net.. and of course, nothing on the net can be trusted, per the fsd.

My JW friend regergitated alot of this stuff to me about losing faith, etc, NOT looking on the internet, yada yada yada, on infinatem, and I pointed her to this book (Of hers)

It's the reasoning book, page 118-9, under the heading of Encouragement for those being Persecuted ..

Note the 4th paragraph on page 119 (Which of course can be found in the bible too <G>)..

I then said to her, so if you are afraid of reading these words, wouldn't that indicate that it is YOU that will be destroyed?

After a blank stare for about 1 minute, without me interjecting an answer, she said that some of the brothers and sisters aren't that strong in the faith yet, and could be stumbled.

I read the scripture aloud this time, from the NWT bible. I said, surely you are solid in your faith, so you are not afraid of your opponents in any way, are you?

She responded sheepishly in the affirmative..

I followed up with, Obviously, then, that doesn't apply to you.. The speaker must not have been talking about the entire congregation, else they as a whole are afraid of their opponents words, and therefor are the ones that will be destroyed! So, certainly, he was talking only about a small group of people within the organization..

I then stopped there.. I figured that would get to her in time... (So much for food at the proper time for her)...

Worship pub. changes, FDS doctrine affected?

howdy folks,.

last night i was reviewing the new publication: "worship the only true god" ("worship") which is an update of the "united in worship of the only true god" ("united").. while i only spent a short time doing this there are evidently many changes.

some are just grammatical or stylistic changes and others i am wondering if they may be more significant in terms of doctrinal shifts.. examples:.

My guess, they are running out of annointed to fill the GB.. Soon, the entire GB will be made up of the non-annointed class. JUST IN CASE Armageddon <hehe> doesn't come before that event does, they are covering their bases, and beginning to lay the foundation for a way to not have any of the annointed, and yet still be in control of the R&F's daily lives!!!!
