Those that use the internet will now have the opportunity to learn what the jws really teach. Amazingly there are many that don't use the internet or care about mj. Therefore they will still be blind sided when a jw comes to their door.

Is The MJ Situation Damaging to the WTS
by passwordprotected inwith so many articles and news stories on-line regarding michael jackson, his involvement with the jws and now his children being taken to the kingdom hall, will this damage the reputation of the watch tower society?
many of these articles have comments from exjws telling the truth about 'the truth', plus google searches are throwing people onto freeminds..

Interesting question.
I personally knew some who were very genuine. There relationships at the KH were the same as outside the KH. These were a joy to be with.
I knew of some that the "truth" actually changed their lives for the best and that they were enjoyable persons to be around.
Also there were those I knew that were very artificial. What you saw at the KH was different from outside the KH. If you spoke to them personally about a subject, the conversations became totally different when they were standing next to another jw. It was like a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde transformation. I did not know what the real person was. Also I felt they could not be trusted, for one moment they agree with you and the next moment they are against you.
There were those who acted as your friend, yet would be ready to stab you in the back. I remember a CO who was very nice and would tell you how your idea was excellent. Then at a body of elders meeting the following day, the CO would exclaim what a horrible idea you had. Then later tell you that if you call this into question you would be very, very sorry. My view definitely changed about this so called brother.

Some things really ticked me off at the meeting last night...
by wantarevolution in...aside from the snooze fest that was the "bible study", taken by a brother who was 5 minutes late - went 10 minutes over and obiously hadn't prepared shit for the meeting (this is the same brother that "encouraged" me to be 15 minutes early for all meetings to welcome people).
1) i had the no3 talk, about "christians helping the poor", no source material or anything.
i played it good, spoke about our duty to be good christians, and charitable to everyone, and how it is a conscience matter as to how we donate our money or charitable deeds.i even used a quote by mother theresa.

This is really an interesting rumor, just like the one about pioneer hour requirements being reduced. Lets see what the GB decides on these issues. Changing the CO arrangement will take adjusting to by these traveling overseers that are so looked up to or despised.

Cognac's husband, HI.
Hope you have fun in the field ministry this weekend. The time for witnessing is rapidly running out. Therefore I hope you have put alot of hours into the field service. Possibly you will be able to pioneer soon. Hence you will be able to place alot of magazines and impress the elders. By pioneering you will be able to advance to be a servant in the congregation and everyone will then look up to you. Sorry, I mean by pioneering you will be able to help people learn the "truth" from the WTBS and help these people to become JWs also.

What Were Some Stupid Rules In Your Hall?
by minimus infamilies with younger children had to sit in the last 3 rows or they were counseled!.
disfellowshipped persons were told not to sit next to each other and talk because it "looks like they're unrepentant"..

When the young elders replaced the old guard of elders, the congregation changed from being fun to hell.
That congregation's special needs talks contained rules galore.
To prevent immorality, they counseled against hugging in the congregation. Shaking of hands in the KH were to be limited to a few seconds. Also brothers and sisters could not sit next to each other in the KH unless they were married, seriously engaged to be married, or close family member. A brother could not pick up a sister to bring to the meeting if she didn't have transportation nor could a sister pick up a brother in transportation needs. Nor can a brother work with a sister in field service unless they were married, engaged to be married, or a close family member.
Multi-congregation social gatherings were wrong because none of the elders wanted to be the "one" in charge. All social gatherings, large or small, had to have a person in charge. That person would be held responsible for anyone getting out of line. Do not tell anyone that you are going camping or fishing, etc., because if they showed up even if you did not invite them, then you are the person in charge and responsible for them and their actions.
The congregation had to sit in the first 8 rows of the KH, unless you had children or were DF. This way empty rows would not exist in the front. Empty rows in the front make it appear that the congregation was in fear of the speakers and that should never appear that way.

I know an older man who father a child. Sadly he died ten years later, the mother who was in reaching retirement age could not handle the child emotionally. Therefore she put the child into a home. Really a sad situation.

I've noticed something different at this years district convention
by JWinprotest innot sure if this was the case elsewhere, but i noticed that the contribution boxes with the people attending them stayed out in the hall ways throughout the entire session.
they used to be set up only before and after sessions and during lunch......times are tough!

Wow, contributing using a credit card is a new one. They really want to make it easy to give them money.
How did you know about this? Was an announcement made from the platform or did you just accidently notice this?

Does the WTS say Facebook is a bad thing?
by lavendar in.
do the elders try to advise members against using facebook for some reason??

Any internet social networking site is considered bad by the WTBS.
1. Dangerous apostates might be hiding their true identites on the internet.
2. Time spent on the internet can be better used in the field ministry.
3. Worldly thinking can be promoted more easily on the internet.
4. Even JW internet social contacts, especially with the opposite sex, can result in something bad (dating?).
So if you follow the directions of the WTBS, MySpace, Facebook, and other social networking sites are evil and are to be avoided as the plague. But we all know that the WTBS set rules that are like the Pharasees to protect its members from having an open mind.
