Definitely jws have competitive feelings trapped ready to release at any moment. I have been clobbered by witnesses playing football and basketball. Even volleyball ones who would push the "non-performers" out of the way to get the ball.

Brothers playing sports are so aggressive.
by Kaiser inthis summer i started to play football(soccer) with "wordly" people.
it s been so nice and relaxing without flashovers.. contrast for playing with witnesses is huge!
here is couple examples of witnesses games from where i live:.

I think that issue of the Watchtower will place itself with such an interesting question to ask her.

What Did You Do As A Witness That Could Have Gotten You Into Trouble Had The Elders Ever Known About It?
by minimus inmy elder buddy and i would frequent strip clubs when we wanted to.. a few friends knew i enjoyed clubbing and music concerts and i seldom ever spoke of my private social life to others.. i know many jws, including elders, that drank excessively but that wasn't considered too big a deal..

No more 3-day DCs starting in 2013?
by respectful_observer inapologies if there is another recent thread on this, but i have heard from 4 different people in 3 different geographic areas (including someone who does advance work for the dcs), that beginning in 2013 the three day dc program will be replaced by a second two-day circuit assembly.
some people were passing the info along like a secret, others seemed to think that everyone already knew.. if everyone in j-dub land is already talking about this, how is it not all over this forum??.
anyway, can anyone confirm or deny?.

My wife thought it was strange that this year at the end of the DC they did not announce that there will be a DC the next year. Of course the GB did promise that International Conventions would be made available to various states in the U.S. on a rotating basis. There were some jws upset that they were not chosen for an International Convention this year, they feel that the GB will make it available to ones overlooked for the next year.

Mrs Cedars and I try an interesting diet...
by cedars ini guess no matter what country you live in, the costs of food and everything are going up.
it's certainly no different where mrs cedars and i live, and we're noticing a huge increase on our monthly spending for basic commodities - especially food and drink.. normally when we go shopping i tend to stock up on drinks - mostly beer, wine, and fizzy drinks like coke, fanta or sprite.
i tend to be quite picky with my fizzy drinks, and i can't really tolerate cheap "store brand" imitations.

I heard on the local radio station about the great taste of fizzy mineral water. This post has given me added incentive to try this out.

I agree, that logic and reason does not affect jws. I spoke to ones about the new generation explaination and it just goes over their heads with no affect. It just makes me scratch my head in wonder over their blind obedience.

I feel that this is the wave of the future. The purpose of the internet is to share knowledge. Yes it will hurt many colleges, just as the internet has hurt newpapers. But this is the direction of progress.

New MS - Looking for the "better" job
by nochoice inlong, long time lurker and great fan of the site - first time poster.
i am not sure if i am truly a lurker since that implies i am apostate-curious.
in fact, i have been mentally out completely for a long time, but still physically in like many of you.

The magazines are the easiest if the BOE does not insist that one stand behind the counter. Just place a group of magazines on the the counter and walk away.
The accounts are the most time consuming. I never liked doing territory, sound, or literature because of the time involved and the hassles when things don't go right during a co visit.

The Decline of Elders and Ministerial Servants
by Londo111 ini seem to remember somebody saying that since the 90's the number of elders has declined from 90000 to 60000. does anybody have any hard figures regarding this?.
the organization is desperate for "qualified" men.
but their standards are much too high, especially the monthly field service hour requirements tagged on to endless meetings and congregational busywork.

Magwitch, your story reminds me of a brother in a hall I used to go to. My family would switch to another cong when we learned that this brother was giving a public talk. He misquoted information right and left. And his talks were sleepers. All I could remember about his talks were how bad they were. Yes at one time this brother had his vitality and sound mind, but does not qualify him when he is elderly and forgets more than he remembers. Such brothers should never be shepherds of the congregation.
