Brings back memories. I remember feeling rather nauseated when I found out I could be sued. Lose everything and maybe end up in jail for defending their procedures and policies? Uh, no thanks.

Where is the man who loved Jehovah so much?
by LyinEyes ini have to explain why i say this, why i miss the man who loved god so much.
when i met my husband he was only 18 yrs old, and so deligent to serve jehovah.
we were both so much alike, we loved our god, but also deep down, loved what the world had to offer.

Thank you for a nice post LyinEyes. I can relate very much to what your husband and you have been going through.
Being an elder is in many ways the barometer which a jw man uses to measure his spirituality. In the jw religion, 'reaching out' and doing more and more can easily become the very reason for our spritual growth. When that is lost, it is indeed difficult to find one's way at times.

No Regrets,
by Englishman innon, je ne regrette rien.. mr. moe has said that she doesn't want to enter her 50's (that's about 25 years off, btw) and look back on her life with a feeling of regret.. relax, you probably won't!.
you see, i have made the most apalling mistakes in my life.
some real mega cock-ups.

Have you read my experience in the Awake?Read this
by ELON14 inmany of you already know my real name.i'm the one whose experience was published in the sep 8 1994 awake mag.
i would like to stress that although i have good reason to be angry and bitter, nothing i say here is said in anger but only in sadness.
i write this to say that if i could take back many of my words i said in that experience , i would.

Very interesting post Elon, and like beck_melbourne, I am also curious as to whether the lanuage in your original story was altered, etc, to fit the WTS's liking.
Also, like Mulan, I do not recall seeing anything about your son.

Shakita, thank you for posting this, and I am very sorry about the losses that your family has had to endure due to breast cancer.
This is month is the official month for breast cancer awareness, and this week's issue of Newseek carries an article on page 10 with some updates on current reasearch into effective prevention and treatments.

Theocratic War Strategy & "Phenomenal ...
by Scully ini called my mother yesterday and for some reason, the conversation drifted into dub-talk.
she was upset that some of my siblings were still at home, not concerned about looking for jobs or pursuing some kind of job training (the acceptable term for "going back to school", apparently).
none of these siblings are baptized, so pioneering is not even an issue.. anyway, i suggested that maybe they were discouraged because people around them (dubs, in particular) were harping on the idea that armageddon was "just around the corner" and that it seemed like a waste of time to pursue those activities.

I once heard an MS mention that the crazy weather was another sign that the end was near. Uhm, someone ought to tell these people that the occurance bad weather is not something listed in Jesus' sign of the last days.
Good post Scully - sorry that your conversation turned out to be frustrating.

JW Youths Funeral: "cause he wasnt going t...
by mamashel inthis is just an update on an earlier post about jw youth dies in car crash.
long story short, he was killed when his car struck a pole because he fell asleep at the wheel.
his father had recently kicked him out of the house (he was only 18) becuase he was missing meetings.

Good thread. I'm sorry about the young man's death, that's very sad.
And the lack of compassion is once again not surprising. Everything is conditioned on performance in the mind of the typical jw. The Society might say, 'we don't teach this stuff' [lack of compassion], but they do indeed promote that mindset in their people....look how many feel that way. It permeates the whole religion.
