possible baseball strike - your opinion?

ah yes, major league baseball is about to shoot itself in the foot again, as the player's union has set an august 30th strike deadline.

personally, i feel that these bozos (owners and players included) can't be so dumb as to actually jeapordize this season, just as they ruined the 1994 season.

how do you feel about a possible baseball strike?

Bethelites - did they read the Bible in a year?

as many of you know, bethelites are "required" to read the entire bible within a year when they serve there.

my question, to any who served there or who may know any who did, is: did they really read the entire bible in year's time?

frankly, i wonder how this "requirement" could be met, seeing how long the scheduled work hours are plus the other things that are expected of them.

Local jw youths 'dropping like flies'

the local count of disfellowshipings and reproofs, just from what i personally have heard, in recent months - 7 df'd , 2 public reproofs.

and this is just from what i have heard.

all involve persons around age 21 and younger.. .

garbage girl.....i heard a song by garbage girl for the first time recently.

last night on abc tv's "primetime" a story was aired about the people of gander, new foundland, who extented a great degree of hospitality toward total strangers as planes were diverted to nearby airport in the wake of the attacks on the world trade centers on 9/11.. food was prepared and served.

people opened their homes to the passengers.

some passengers have even returned to gander to bond once again with the people who showed them such kindness.

Record producer dies in car accident

record producer gus dudgeon and his wife sheila died in a car accident on july 21.. gus was the producer on elton john's highly successful 1970s albums, including a run of seven consecutive u.s. number one albums.

he also produced some of john's 1980s work, including the album live in australia, with the 88-piece melbourne symphony orchestra.. gus also worked with the rolling stones, david bowie, xtc, and marriane faithful, among others.. gus's work with elton john was marked by a clean, wide-open sound that i personally found to be very involving.

he has recently completed work on remasters of john's classic albums.
