Honestly, no. I even thank being a JW for refining me in some parts of my life experiences and for inculcating in me the need to always want to strive for better. How ironic that this thinking is what has helped me to evolve from the borg.

Do you ever feel bitter...
by Newborn in...that if you had never been a jw you could have been in a totally different, hopefully better, place than where you are now?
both when it comes to proffession and family etc.... sometimes i feel that i never explored any hobbies coz preaching was my hobby.
i know it's not too late for babies or new hobbies but still sometimes that makes me sad.. love.

JWoods: Perhaps, but not quite ready to do it yet. All in due time. I am sure it won't be much of a shock to them. I used to hear that as many as 40,000 + leave the borg every year.
Snowbird: Sorry to hear that had happened to you, but good to see you still standing strong and thanks for the encouragement girlfriend!
Leavingwt: Thanks for the post and will take a look at it.
Iknowall558: Going to listen to the recordings when I get home from work.
BluesBrother: Good suggestion. Thanks for it.
Chickpea: Sounds like a good idea. I just know I am not one to go through the motions even if I can derive a mild pleasure of pissing a person off.

Just when I thought I could be successful in my fade and out of the radar, an elder from my old congregation has started the search and rescue mission on me. He and his wife came to my parents' home yesterday looking for me. Thank God I wasn't there. He then started calling me. He left a message yesterday and he called me earlier today. I ignored the calls so far. This is a bit hurtful for me to do because I like this particular elder. However, I need time to think about my response to him and to put somethings in perspective for myself. So much has happened to me lately and I don't need any guilt trips from this cult to further complicate matters. Eventually, I going to have to face the music and deal with them.
While I know I have no real desire to return, I am not quite ready to part ways. I still have yet to really do much research so I can be more assured and informed of my decision and there is the matter of my parents and a few friends. I don't want to feel like I am hiding, but I don't want to incriminate myself too soon either. I believe I know what to say to keep them at bay. Whatever it maybe, I want to convey to them that I just want to be left alone.
Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

To Angel Eyes & Other WT Apologists
by snowbird init has come to my attention that a much-beloved poster on this forum has been hurt by the insensitivity shown toward her account of how badly she was treated by the wt.. i realize this is a place where are all welcome, and barring any posting guidelines violations, we are free to air our views without fear of any backlash.. however, please keep in mind that most posters here - yours truly being one of them - view the wt in a negative light.
with all the evidence out there pertaining to its deceitfulness, how can anyone view it otherwise?.
i reached out to you, angel eyes, because i sense that you need a friend.

Thanks for the post Sylvia. While I will respect a person's defense for their beliefs, I do sometimes find some of the apologists here do mock those who are suffering hurt and pain from this religion.

Stupidest JW meeting answers
by GapingMouth ini was thinking about some stupid non-sensical answers i have heard over the years.
"we all know the blue whale is the biggest fish"
"we were on the ministry and met a coloured couple.

A sister told me about this brother who gave a talk at her hall and related the bible story about Balaam and his donkey. He kept on saying, "And he beat his ass." lol
Another one (not so much stupid, but funny as hell) was when a CO called my congregation a "whorehouse" and how without Jehovah's holy spirit the congregation would be like a "bitch in heat". lmao

Explaining what DF'd means to a non-witness
by babygirl30 ini actually had to do this twice in the past 2 weeks - and it's really shaken things up!
the first time was last week.
my aunt (who lives out of state) asked me how my parents were doing (her brother and my mom)?

I recently had an objective discussion on the practice of shunning with a non-jw friend of mine. She found the practice very absurd as does many on the outside of this religion. On the flip side, I had a conversation with a non-jw person who agreed with the practice of DF and shunning and wished his church (Seven Day Adventist) would adopt the practice. I just took his answer as being ignorant of the real danger such a practice poses.
Don't be too hard on yourself for not having seen it. The many years indoctrinated into this cult does that to a person.

Depression in the Org.
by ssn587 init never seems to be brought up in jah's so wonderful org.
but depression seems rampant, i can name 7-10 people right now on antidepreswsant drugs.
-
Girlie
Well, given the oppressive & restrictive climate that is fostered within the borg, is it ever a wonder why there are many suffering from some form of depression?

Did you get drunk/take drugs as a witness?
by wouldacouldashoulda insmoked.
got drunk.
taken drugs (non medicinal).
-
Girlie
Let's see:
Drunk: Yes (even attended a JW renovation meeting at my former hall with a terrible hangover)
Smoked: Yes for a year (was counseled on that and got publicly reproved)
Drugs: Yes (during that 1 year period of smoking cigarettes and cigars, I mixed some pot in. was asked about that during my JC, but denied it)
However, that JC did scare me str8 and I haven't smoked nor gotten drunk or high since.

A buddy of mine told me that an annointed sister in her congregation was being a bit fresh with her fleshly/jw brother during FS and told him that if it wasn't for her calling, she would've hooked up with him. LOL
