  When You Left The "Truth" Were People Shocked?

  i faded and when witnesses realized i had abandoned the faith, they were shocked!

  Edit: Nope. When I was in I was a "fringe JW". Average to below average hours. No real jump to any special privileges. Didn't really stand out different nor cared to gain the attention of any model JW as it would mean being too into my business and I didn't need that. So I guess that is why there is no real surprise when I faded and no real interest in my return as I didn't get any phone calls, visits, etc. So, lucky me. lol

  Guys!! Guys!!! Two Jehovah's Witnesses were just at my door!!

  and of course, i had some fun with them... an older, brunette woman who obviously dyes her hair and could stand to lose a bit of weight, and a slim blonde teenage girl - probably around 15 - 17.... i started out by asking them if they knew how old the bible was.... .

  (and unfortunately, i think i demonstrated that i wouldn't make a very good "undercover" bible study prospect... .

  but they didn't even know how old - young - the bible was!!.

  No wonder this religion is paranoid if they are sprouting crap like this out. Better watch out! There's a demon on your back! lol

  I have heard my fair share of demon stories and JW. One I have heard of was about some young guy who didn't listen to the old farts Jehovah's wisdom and decided to go see the movie, The Lost Boys. His parents were away from the house, so he took it upon himself to be a big boy and go see this movie by himself. After the movie and walking home alone at night, he was feeling very scared and jumpy from the flick. Upon getting to his house and walking in, for some odd reason he looked up. On the top of the stairs was one of the characters from the movie. He ran out of the house and stayed with some neighbors until his parents got home.

  The sister who told me this story looked like she wanted to freak out just by telling it. I did all I could to keep from laughing in her face. lol

  Thanks, Zid. Only, my cruel and unsual punishment happened prior to being in the cult. The cult just heightened some of my disorders with its oppressive environment and warped teachings.

  Sorry to hear of what you endured. That's why I do enjoy coming to this site. It is a great source for support, strength and healing.

  Edited: I think I have a combo of all kinds of issues. A bit of abandonment, a bit of PTSD, a bit of depression. All kinds, but I manage.

  the plan is to drop info throughout the convention center.

  Good luck on that one, Serenity. That's a thoughtful idea, but once they see the card and tract, they will either give it back or chuck it in the can. However, if it can get at least one person to think, then it would be an accomplishment. Again, good luck.

  Also, be sure you duck and dodge the J-dub police so you won't get escorted out. lol

  how can anyone stand this stuff?

  For exJW Singles - Would You Consider Dating/Marrying Another ExJW?

  for example, do you find it difficult to bring up in conversation, lest you get stared at as if you have 2 heads or something?

  Do you consider being an exJW a hindrance to dating? No as I was never truly attracted to being with a JW male when I was in and knew that if I were to marry, it would be to an outsider.

  Do you have issues that you think only another exJW would understand? No. While I still have some residual guilt tripping that plays with my mind, I feel that I can handle them on my own. I don't mind having ex-JW for friendships or even a relationship, but he would have to be one who is totally out for us to be together. No going back at all. I am able to be with all kinds of people and enjoy their company.

  Or do you think it would be better to date someone who had never been a JW? Personally, it would better to date someone who meets my standards of what I am looking for, be it ex-JW or non-JW. However, being single and living life isn't a bad thing either.

  after being here on jwn for a while, one does see a spectrum of sorts.

  there are people here in various stages of their exit from their lives as jws.

  some are full fledged kh and fs attendees whom we call "the conscious class".

  Vamp,

  I am glad you created this thoughtful post. I am physically out, but mentally enslaved. I still get those haunting thoughts of "did I do the right thing" or the "I miss my JW friends" and still perplexed by some of their basic doctrines as being reasonable. However, their more pivotal teachings, lack of love and oppressed environment keeps me from wanting to return back. I have no desire to go back to being a JW, no desire to return back to a KH and would very much love to relinquish any vestiges of this cult. I feel myself leaning more towards DAing myself as there is nothing there to go back to other than my parents.
