  What's with the tattoing your arms craze?

  why are so many guys getting their arms tattoed?

  looks awful, like they have been in a fire and have ash all over their arms, or like they have gangrene.

  just looks kinda dirty.

  Here in the UK it is way to easy to get a Tattoo, and everyone has them. A lot of it comes from roll models like David Beckham. The thing is, his were well done, planned and look truly awsome. Thats quite different than turning up at a Tattoo shop, or worse still, getting a mate to do it. No forthought or individuality, just picking a naff picture out of a naff tattoo book that looks cheep and tacky.

  I don't know about in the States, but near where I live you can get a tattoo for about £10. Any 17 year old kid can get one (although I think legally you are supposed to be 18.)

  7th Day Adventists came to my house... it was weird

  so i get a knock on the door and a minister from a local 7th day adventists is at my doorstep.

  it felt very much like a witness.

  he asked me about my life and how things were going and if i was a christian.. i explained to him that i gave up christianity a while back and he asked why.

  I've never had any 7th day Aventist, but we always get some salvation army folk. Their main aim is collecting for charity obviously, but our local ones also leave a scripture on a sheet and invite me round for tea and cake. They really are a kind bunch, so different from the witnesses. If I wasn't an Athiest I would probably go along.

  i know "god save the queen" but only the short verison that they have at football matches.

  i think the origanal is meant to be about 8 verses long isn't it?.

  I do not know the British national anthem, I have never sung it and never will. Maybe I am stuborn, but as I neither believe in God nor support the royal family, I am opposed to an Anthem to "Save the Queen".

  I do know the words to "Jerusalem" and am all for adopting that as our ENGLISH national anthem, as we do not have an anthem of our own.

  GOD SAVE OUR QUEEN is apparently the common wealth anthem. Beh Beh!!

  I say listen to your head, not your heart. I had a long distance relationship for 4 years, as soon as we moved in together we started fighting, an our relationship only survived 2 more years.Make sure you are 100% by giving it a good trial run. Stay there a month at least before making a final commitment. Test the waters good and proper. Make sure you are not the one making all the sacifices.

  have you noticed that the recent trolls are now claiming that if anybody drew conclusions or made decisions based on what the society was printing, it was their own fault?.

  kind of "we didn't force you to believe what we said or adjust your life because of it.

  you chose to think we were teaching the end would come in <insert time range>".

  Although born in I never believed. In order to escape my plight, at 17 I took up an Au Pair job in a foreign country, working 60 hours a week doing slave labour. No friends, no family, no money or education. Still I was free and it was the best decision I ever made. All my brothers and sisters are in, and I fear are in for all the wrong reasons.

  Are you suspicious of LURKERS?

  we all know they're here but we don't really know who they are.. they are people who sign up here and then never comment (or rarely ever do).. doesn't that make any of you regulars here at the very least a tiny bit suspicious?.

  why would a person sign up to a forum like this and then never say a damn thing?

  it seems to me that there is a primary reason why some folks sign up and then never comment on anything: to spy.

  My partners family are Salvation army. They are so lovely, I actually thought about faking my (lack of) belief in the Bible/ God.

  Some great advice thanks.

  Even though I'm as cross as hell, I realise this is probably going to be the only opportunity to get my folks out.

  I have decided to discuss JW theology or try and attack it would just be a no-go area. I know my family don't buy a lot of the crap the Borg come up with anyway, but their answer is always the same - they are in it for Jehovah and not imperfect humans.

  So I'm gonna play on the thing my Dad is more than happy to talk about - how unchristian and wrong it is to accept loans and not pay them back, and then make out he is in the wrong, and punish him for it. Do they not realise if the company goes bankrupt, people will loose their jobs? It's not like he's asking or the money back for no reason..ect

  I'm also going to try this on the rest of the family, who have been supprisingly neutral about the whole thing. My step mum is super spiritual, but also likes the nice things in life. I have a feeling she would also have a difficulty in deciding between a comfortable life style and the cong.

  Hi jookbeard, you missunderstood slightly. My dad was an unofficial moneylender, not a loan shark. Im from the midlands, and old mining area. Most of the rest of the cong was usually broke. Up until a year ago my Dad ran a sucessfull waste disposal business, employing several dubs. When folk needed a loan, it was usually my Dad they asked. I don't know the details but some of the loans were for several thousand pounds. No interest was charged. Anyway, a lot of the loans were still outstanding for years and years. My Dad didn't bother too much, but when his company faced bankruptsy, he had no choice but to ask for the loans to be depaid. I don't know the details, but things went sour and he threatened court action.

  My Dad was never a "strong" witness spiritually. Only used to go out in FS 1 or 2 times a month. But he was still in good standing as far as I know.

  Simon 17 is exactly right , it seems my Dads business is number 1, cong number 2, and family number 3.

  But still he is still family. I think I should see this as an opportunity to get closer to my whole family, not just my Dad. The last thing our family needs is a them V us senario.

  Yes, I know his is the best chance I will ever have. But also he still lives with the rest of the family. I don't want it to cause them any hurt. Also if I pull the plug on thoughts that have been bottled up so long, I think they may just explode. We have always had a strict non-discussion policy when it came to JW. I think I will have to think about this without doing anything that I could regret.
