on page 3 the question box asks: what should you do if directed to stop preaching?.

the answer?

"in some instances, police have approached publishers who were sharing in some form of the ministry, informed them that they were violating the law, and directed them to stop.

Like many have said, this is nothing new.

I think more and more communities are starting to turn up the heat as far as people reporting JW's to the police.

Its funny how many people still do not understand the legalities of "No Tresspassing" signs.

I had to counsel numerous people when I was service overseer that they were in violation of the law when they worked those homes. Shortly thereafter, a letter from Big Brother came regarding that same issue.It basically said if you work those homes, you are on your own and subject to prosecution.

I think it was all around the time of that Stratton (SP?) Ohio lawsuit??

How about all of those service supplies from those third-party printing companies?

I remember I would get gifts from people - a book called "My Service Organizer" with fancy return visit slips, Bible Covers so your NWT wouldnt fall apart in two weeks, and the ultimate:

The NWT bound TOGETHER with the Reasoning book!!!

Gee, all the other kids got cash and fancy gifts when they graduated, got married, etc........

You cant go wrong with them - the one i have now has 120000 miles on it and the engine runs like it did when I bought it 8 years ago.

i think my previous username was "tfjw" but i had to get a new account.. .

anyway, i'm doing some research on judicial cases, how they are handled, the use of the secret "flock" book (pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock) and other related topics.

i'm trying desperately to find the quote referring to the elders where they are not to mention the governing body or the society, as it may be, in certain reports.

Officially, the Society never said this, thats why they had this written down. It's a common, standard practice with the borg.

That used to always make me irritated......I always loved how they had you write notes in the margins about "new light"

In other words, lets make them handwrite it in the Pharasee Manual so they cant pin it on us later.........

Did You See Politics In "Jehovah's" Organization?

it is amazing to note that some witnesses actually believe the organization is totally "theocratic, run by the top down".

i believe many witnesses could never accept former jw's writing about their experiences because they just couldn't imagine all the backroom deals and questionable practices that indicate holy spirit has nothing to do with the process.. did you experience "politics" within the theocracy?.

I truly believe it is the MOST political organization I have ever been associated with by far.

I have worked for some large corporations that were much less political.

At the congregation level, people are often shielded from it, but most of the servant bodies I was on were extremely political. Many of them were run by iron-fisted P.O.'s who either had it their way or else. If you bucked the system, even if it was the right thing to do, you would often lose in a power struggle. People who were more meek and mild (often in it for the right reasons I felt) would get steam-rolled by these power-hungry controlling types.

Appointments in the congregation were very political - I knew several men who moved congregations and then proceeded to kiss major amounts of ass to get appointed. Hmmmm....the holy spirit didnt want them appointed in the first hall, but did in the 2nd hall???

I think the organization has gotten far more political over the last few years - you can see it at the top just as much as at the bottom. Its funny how they have tried to hide it by trying to put less emphasis on the GB (I always, even as a kid REFUSED to memorize the name of the members. I could tell you the roster of any sports team though- haha) president of the WTB$$$$, etc...........All in the appearance of "simplifying" and "the light getting brighter".......Please...........BARF.

All it is is the most Orwellian organization I can think of.

Baptism Questions??

this forum tends to get me thinking about things from the past and then roll my eyes.. i was recalling a particular pharasee in the congregation who used to love showing everyone how "smart" he was.. when i would go over the questions with someone, we would fly through them because it was usually with kids who were raised as jw's and could answer then in their sleep.

well, mr pharasee used to always make it into a marathon session and take 2-3 hours to go over one section of the questions with someone.. he could take a simple question like "what is god's name?

Well, Mr Pharasee used to always make it into a marathon session and take 2-3 hours to go over one section of the questions with someone.

He could take a simple question like "What is God's Name?" and turn it into a 30 minute lecture. I remember one guy BOMBED out on the baptism questions with this moron because he didn't like the answer he got on a question. The poor sap had to wait another year to get baptised.

That got me thinking - were all of the baptisms in the bible null and void because they didnt go over the questions with 3 elders? - LOL

I can see Jesus approaching John the Baptizer and John saying "well, Jesus that is commendable. Let me get three of my disciples together and we can go over the questions." Once that is done, your father in the heavens can send his spirit down and say "this is my son the beloved whom I, along with the other 3 have approved"

reasons for the new song book, according to a dub

just asked a loyal dub i know why has the org now given out a song book, with so many songs taken out?

she looked at her convention notes and replied that the soceity said that some of the songs in the old song book were too difficult for new people to learn to sing.. and this was said with all seriousness... she totaly brought it!.

This Fading Stuff is Tough!!

overall my fade is going very well, but yesterday it really hit me that certain "milestones" are going to be more difficult than others.. i have basically gotten down to one meeting a week, wth no field service.. this despite the dreaded admonition "one week without field service makes one weak!

" (puke).

as i was on the way to the meeting yesterday, i was informed that i was assigned to read the wt.

You know what makes me mad here? That a guy like you that makes one meeting a week and no FS and you STILL get privileges. I worked my ass off for this #*@($! publishing company and I couldn't even friggin' comment! The double standard is unbelievable.

LOL -That is so funny and true.

I dont know about your area, but where I live, if you have a schlong and show up to the meeting regularly, you are subject to be used a lot.

The area is so low on "capable" men that they are desperate to fill the rosters for what needs to be done every meeting. You dont even need a schlong, as I have now seen women used in roles to do literature, accounts, etc. Years ago, that was unheard of in our area.

If you get your 10 hours a month in service - BINGO - you are on the servant body!!!

I used to crack up when people would tell me how they really poured over the scriptural qualifications for appointing men in the congregation.

It usually went like this - look at all of the non-appointed men. Automatically eliminate anyone with less than 10 hours a month in service. Look at who is left.
