What is the main issue you have with this religion?
by Quillsky infor me there are many obvious issues, but the big one is......... the big daddy of the universe, the father of all this incredible creation, is not about to annihilate everybody who is not a member of this late 1800's american religion, jehovah's witnesses.. that's it for me.. what is your big issue?.

If there is a multiverse. Could JW teachings be right somewhere else?
by The Finger in"the trouble is that in an infinite multiverse, everything that can happen will happen - an infinite number of times" (newscientist mar 2010).

everything that can happen will happen
Assuming multiverses, you still have that nagging "can" word there. As long as JW teaching often contradicts itself, there can't be a universe where it's right.

ATTENTION:
Our Dear Brothers & Sisters
In light of the directive in the April, 2010 Kingdom Ministry regarding publicly posting talks on internet web sites, we have disabled the talks on this page (since February 3) to show a spirit of co-operation with the wishes of the Faithful Slave.
We know many of us are so warmed, inspired, encouraged, and educated by these talks, and it breaks our hearts to no longer be able to share them with good intentions with the friends, but there are many good reasons not to, as pointed out by our loving, caring, Faithful Slave.
JWN will continue to share breaking news, and encouragement in any way we are able.
JWN
Hotspur, exercise your old ability to follow directions, and hover over the text, as you're told The layout is a throwback to those weird 90's webpages.
It breaks their hearts, yet they do as they're told without questioning. And they don't see a problem with it. If the bad really outweights the good, they should have noticed it long before by themselves. Now if it's "pointed out" to them, they wholeheartedly agree too. Weird cult...

A Paradox for JWs and other religious people
by NutFlush ini was raised a jw and left nearly 15 years ago before/when i went away to college.
since then, i have had nothing to do with organized religion (or non-organized religion, for that matter).
in my experiences, fervent religious belief has not correlated well with things such as critical reasoning ability or secular success as measured by profession, level of education, income, etc.. i was browsing the blog of a semi-well-known guy who has worked in some of the same fields as me and came upon the following passage:.

Let me butt in the statistics discussion too. Snotrag, have you considered that our universe may not be the only one, and it may not have been the first? There's a theory about "pulsing" universe - big bang / big crash ad infinitum. That would invalidate just about any statistics based proof.

Interresting read, ty.
Nkandu, JW spokesman says:
in family law, it is a parental responsibility to choose a name for the child, the religion of the child and unless a child is 16 or over, or he is of sufficient age and understanding to consent to any treatment, decision on the latter is a matter of parental responsibility
So in effect he's saying if my personal conviction would be that every child born under the full moon should be sacrificed to Satan, and that is in the child's best interrest, then it's ok to sacrifice my child, right? Brother Nkandu would sit around and cheer for me for acting according to my convicions.

The Simpsons' religious satire
by behemot inin treehouse of horror xx (don't have a cow, mankind"), the simpsons parody of 28 days later and i am legend, bart simpson is the "saviour", the source of the anti-mutation vaccine.
the soldier explains that men have to eat his flesh to get saved:.
marge apparently disagrees:.

My favorite is from Simpsons 10e17, Maximum Homerdrive. Marge installs a new doorbell, and anxiously awaits for someone to come use it, but noone comes. Then:
Lisa: Wait! People are coming! I think they're Jehovah's Witnesses!
Marge: Yyyyes!
A man and a woman JW approaches the door. As the male JW was just about to push the doorbell, the female holds his hand, and says:
Noreen: Wait Marvin, you know I just had a thought. Maybe we're bothering people by trying to change their religion. What if we don't have all the answers?
Marvin: You're right Noreen. Let's go get real jobs.
As they walk away, they toss away all the magazines they're carrying.
Marge: Hrrrrmm... I would've feigned interrest...

ZION's Watchtower: Is WTS a Zionist Organization?
by cameo-d inwouldn't this make them a political organization in spite of their "neutrality" doublespeak?.
could this have anything to do with the rutherford/rothschild land acquired in israel?

I don't understand your dilemma, the qoute says 1896, that is after 1879. Sure, the philosophy was probably starting to form before that, but it got named only in 1896, when Zion's Watchtower was already being printed for 17 years.

Here's the JW answer to it all......
by palmtree67 ini was talking to a jw friend about what it was that ct russell was doing prior to 1914 that made him acceptable to jesus, over everyone else.. i mentioned the pyramids, celebration of "pagan" holidays, stealing of thoughts from other religious people, the "odd" lifestyle of russell, etc.
and i asked, "so, what was it that made ct russell more acceptable to god than anyone else at that time?".
the answer:.

Jesus could see into the future and could tell that they were the only ones searching and would eventually come to the correct teachings on things.
Weren't the corrections of teachings because of "new light" given to the FDS? That means Jesus could just pick any lunatic, "direct the light" towards him (think of a giant mirror here), and presto, the correct teachings arrive.
So your question is still up: "what was it that made CT Russell more acceptable to God than anyone else at that time?" Why was he the chosen lunatic out of the other hundreds of millions on the planet?

The only thing I can think of worthwile stealing from my KH is the audio equipment. I can't imagine what can a KH do with candles though.
