Camping for conventions
by EmptyInside inoutlaw's post about convention food reminded me of my family's experiences camping for the conventions.
fortunately, they did this before i came along.
but, it seems the whole congregation stayed at one campground.

Our PO was also the CA chairman. When they had cut out one aspect of the food service, he told us because we didn't support it properly, this is what we get. It almost sounded like we were being punished as his tone of voice implied.
As we now learned from others here, the long time money maker had failed them. And they were blaming the pubs for the failure and of course they did nothing wrong.
As many have said, the WTS also didn't realize the willing spirit of the volunteers and how much they were encouraged by that experience. For some it was there glimpse of the new order, all working together in a very nice social enviroment.
JW's have few places to meet future husbands/wives, this was one of them.
Yes, the WTS spun the changes for an effeciency take, but I'm sure it was all about the money in the end.

You might be a JW if you go to bed at night dreaming and picturing all the people of the world being killed at Armageddon.
You might be a JW if you envision all the little boys at the KH with no clothes on.
You might be a JW if you refuse to alert the authorities of a child molester in the KH because you want to protect the GB's image.
You might be a JW if you spend your late evenings preparing for meetings and checking out the latest porn on the Web.
You might be a JW if you come on JWN just to check it out

A Former Bethelite Said WTS Did Pay Social Security in the USA.
by OnTheWayOut ina former bethelite who served in the 70's said that bethel usa did pay social security for all the bethelites.
she would not give any details like, whether it was a tiny amount based on their stipend or what.
i mean, earning your quarters is still a great thing.

Am i correct?
by angel eyes inthis is just an obsevation from me...ok i dont mean to annoy anyone but is it true or just me?.
i feel that ones raised in the truth are so much better of than us who came in from the world.
i say that because they have family who are witnesses too.

My understanding of Scotland is limited to Willy, the gardner from the TV show, The Simpsons. I hope all Scott's aren't like Willy.
I assume there is some truth to his character. Like when he was born, his father commenting on his ugly looks. "I think the lad come out of his mothers wrong end"
His brutal honesty, not the Scot's looks.
My mother in law had Scottish roots and at her funeral service, we had the bag pipes play Amazing Grace. Very beautiful.

Dan Sydlik spanked Lon Schilling and Len Pearson at the Farm
by Bethelite Elder inwhen dan sydlik a member of the governing body whom i feel was a good man was living.
he heard all the cries from the bethelites about the hard rulership of lon schilling and len pearson.
eventually he took care of those guys and lon schilling was nicely removed from all of his vast power.

I was their years ago and I thought most of these people had died off.
Lon recruited my wife and me to come back to the farm many years ago, but we declined.
Rayford didn't like me at all since I once dunked over him in a basketball game. He actually pushed me and I pushed him back. Nothing serious, that stuff happens during competition, but he refused to talk to me after that.

Humanist - Yes, it was a great place to meet chicks
Farkel - Funny, at the time, the perception among the JW's was that it was sold for cost only.
As soon as they changed to the roving trucks with ovens, everyone complained. The food arrangement soured.
Good kitchen experience at Dodger:
We was just kids, 15 years old. One of the kitchen overseers was looking for one of the bros and sent me to find him. I asked the bro on the forklift, yelling "where's Buddy?!" He pointed under the trailor. I looked under the trailor and low and behold a case of Bud beer.
The kitchen had more than the usual perks. They also new how to have fun in those days.

Which is your favourite single malt Scotch Whisky, and why?
by lifelong humanist inas a true scot, i'm deeply passionate about most things scottish, any possibly one of our small nation's most successful export is my main favourite - our single malt whisky heritage.. i'm writing this while savouring a 12 year old highland park - distilled in the orkney islands, the most northerly distillery in scotland.
it is one of my favourites - it was my late father's favourite tipple.
yet, only 500m from my house is scotlands oldest legal whisky distillery - glenturret, in crieff.

My wife is the single malter in our family.
At Xmas, everyone is her friend as each of the family gives her a nice bottle.(18 years) Enough to last her almost a year.
She has discovered recently the proper way to serve it in the right glass. The rim bends inward like a wine glass but more exagerated. The aroma fills the nostrils while sipping.
