I have always taken comfort in the thought that God is gracious to children who have not reached the age of accountability. The other side of that coin of grace is that he must then also be gracious to the mentally incapacitated. Being that we all are born with an overwhelming survival instinct I think that when someone( the vast majority exception Hitler, those who kill themselves to prevent jali, execution etc) ends their own life they at some point have stepped over the point of sanity and God's grace surrounds them.

Do You Personally Know Of Anyone That Committed Suicide?
by minimus inlately, i've come to find out that a more than a few people in the area had killed themselves.
most of the people i know of were in their early twenties or forties.
for those loved ones surviving them, it was mostly a shock!

My best man at my first wedding hung himself. He was just a youngster raised in the cult to be a perfect elder's child. The pressure to perform along with drugs and alcohol were more than he could bear. i believe he was also a victim ofthe widespread racism with in the cult. He was fine, young , goodlooking black guy and was given a lot of grief because the white sisters loved him to death.

I came to grips with aging by realizing it is the only way to see your children grow and becomd adults so that we may share in their passions and acomplishments. Grandchildren also give us a chance to have a hand in helping to raise them with all our accumulated wisdom :) we didn't have the first time around. The tough part for me is to look in the miror every day and more and more see my father staring back at me.

What happens when you die?

"the ways of a fool seem right in his own eyes." (Proverbs 12:15) Those who have followed the gnostic formula from the first century are hard to reason with; especially when they seem to have so much time to sit in front of their computer screen.,

Are Any Of You Afraid of Dying At Armageddon?
by minimus ini'm not but i know some jws that have drifted but when things like 9/11 catastrophes occur, they're right back at the kingdom hall.. do you ever worry that the great tribulation might occur and you will die?.

In the days leading up to 1975 I can remember the group anxiety over Armageddon. As was the society's controlling methods it seemed like they emphasized Zephaniah 2:2,3 quite a bit. "Seek righteousness, seek humility, perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the Lord's anger." In other words you could be the very best Jw ever and still not survive the big A; sell more magazines, sell more books!!!!!

I have been quite busy but had to reply to this post. Chalam/Steven you did a great job of revealing Bilbical truth in your post. AGuest/SA it is unfortunate in the light of plain truth that you still are stuck in the Jw/Adventist view of death known as "Soul sleep." I wish for you nothing but the blessing of the saving grace of Jesus Christ but I must take issue with the tone of your writings. Your authoritarian, condescending, "I have the wisdom and the visions and you don't" attitude is exactly what most of us experienced for years within the WTBTS. That attitude ruined and continues to ruin many lives. Scripture says, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." (2 Peter 5:5) In heaven there will be no one who is unlike the Lord Jesus Christ, He is the personification of humilty, (Philippians 2) so it is always wise to lean upon the Lord to keep our ego in check. I have a former friend who began to go to church and became obsessed with gaining knowlege of scripture without allowing it to change him. He ended up disagreeing with the teachings of that church and then sought to be a man of biblical knowledge and wisdom. He loved to show everyone that he could call Jesus by his Hebrew name, Yeshua. At the moment because he feels so superior to any Christian roundabout he doesn't go to church just sits home and feels good about himself. It is a shame when that which began fresh and anew falls back into the same old ways. There are many things we will get the final answer for when we get to heaven. WE/I sure don't know all the ideep things of God, but a "broken/humble and contrite heart God will not despise." (Psalm 51:17)

I remember being slapped for yawning in the third grade by Mrs. Hoover (45 yrs ago) Being the good jw's they were at that time, my parents were convinced it was not because I didn't get enough sleep but because we were experiencing religious persecution

We have a Jw who works at the local convenience store my son worked at for a while. When confronted with any inconsistency in the Jw doctrine the response is always the same-"the light continues to get brighter." I printed off the Time article for him, I could tell him about the night they spent on the Brooklyn bridge in white sheets waiting for Jesus in 1919 (Faith on the March by A.H. McMillon) When they recycled princes on the earth in the early seventies and the poor deluded folks are programmed to say"duh-....... the light keeps getting brighter" We that have escaped need to be like Paul when he talked about the great burden that he held for his brethren; for after all at one time we were in theri shoes.

Burning literature (pics) and police called on Snakes :P
by SnakesInTheTower inso for some time i have been threatening to burn my remaining watchtower literature.
i had gotten rid of two bookcases worth via a thread or two here, mailing it to various jwders for (hopefully) nefarious purposes.
i was down to one last 32 gallon rubbermaid container.
