"There is no higher power than the truth."

having watched many jc youtube videos one question that gets asked is "where else would you go?".
in other words if not jehovah's witnesses then what other religion or organisation would you go to?.
it's one that i have trouble answering, what would you say?.

In 1951, advocates of true worship learned something significant about the term “religion.” Some of them could well recall 1938 when, at times, they carried the thought-provoking sign “Religion Is a Snare and a Racket.” From their standpoint then, all “religion” was unchristian, from the Devil. But The Watchtower of March 15, 1951, approved of using the adjectives “true” and “false” respecting religion.

Ursula Serenco observes: “This was the time when we did not designate ‘true religion’ and ‘false religion’; all religion in totality was bad. The true we referred to as ‘worship,’ while the false was ‘religion.’”

Did you know that until 1950 the Watchtower (correctly) taught that all "religion is a snare and a racket"?
See the books "Enemies" (1937) and "Religion" (1940).
You will not find the phrases "true religion" or "false religion" in these books - the concept was foreign to Rutherford.

"What is the alternative to JW?"
As a believer I find the answer "simple".
All religion is indeed a snare and a racket as the Watchtower taught up to 1950.
Then they too became a religion.
The alternative and antithesis to (any and all) religion is the liberating gospel of grace (aka the "good news").
According to this message a right and clean standing with God is imputed and not earned, not deserved, nor paid for.
To check this for oneself one can search for and mark every occurrence of the words righteous and righteousness by Paul in the Bible.
so i was having this argument with a friend about the westboro baptist idiots.
my point is that while they are horrible people, they are pretty much right in that the bible is against gays because it has verses in both the old and the new testament.
which is one of many reasons to reject the bible as merely man-made rules from ancient middle-easterners.. and she argued that there are problems in translation, etc.
And then there is the choice:
being led by the letter or the spirit...
"for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life" (2 Cor 3:6, NIV)
And for an alternative perspective:
