  How to cope with depression?

  i know its very common for jws and ex jws to deal with depression.

  maybe it's a side effect of cognitive dissonance or the whole outlook on life being a jw.

  but what are some ways to cope with depression?

  There are many medicines:

  1. Exercise is medicine
  2. Walking is medicine
  3. Talking medicine (Psychologist, especially CBT)
  4. Socialising is medicine
  5. Sleep is medicine
  6. Fruit and vegetables are medicine
  7. Hobbies are medicine
  8. Finding and clarifying identity, meaning, engagement and pleasure are medicines that make us happy
  9. Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose are Medicines that motivate us
  10. Meditation is medicine
  11. The whole gospel is a powerful and natural medicine
  12. Not so good medicine - synthetic, addictive and psychoactive iatrogenic medicine (Psychiatrists)

  Embarrassed by Aggressive Apostates

  xjw protests & videos.

  .. i am disturbed by some of the more aggressive apostates posting videos on youtube,like "a jw memorial to remember" where a drunk man goes to a memorial and downs the whole glass of wine as a sort of protest.

  this video and others like it received positive comments from aawa members.

  A phenomenon I have observed is that many really need to vent in a safe and anonymous place like JWN, but show great restraint, repect and patience when face-to-face and trying to help a captive JW see the truth.

  The Watchtower denies "freedom of religion" and "freedom of expression" and "freedom of association" and "freedom of conscience" to current and former members.

  At the same time it hypocritically goes to great lengths to secure these same rights for its religious hierarchy or clergy class.

  Welcome ShempLives.

  Personally I regard myself as a dissenter who could no longer go along with Watchtower apostasy or "spiritual unfaithfulness" primarily in the form of rejecting the whole gospel (or full Good News) in favour of apostate legalism, moralism, ethnocentrism and supremacist Gnosticism.

  feel free to poke holes.

  i have many doubts about this myself.

  I have no doubt that many of their postulations are reactive and in response to detractors catching them with their pants down and their minds corrupted.

  In the end as Ray Franz observed they merely weave an increasingly tangled web aka a "morass of inconsistencies".

  Being materialistic spiritually blind apostates, the GB (Sanhedrin) are not able to walk by spirit and must rely on walking by sight and flesh. Hence they have no access to higher wisdom and need to keep cheating and lying to avoid being unmasked to their followers.

  Their end will come.

  Corruption is not indefinitely sustainable.

  (Maybe consultants are indeed used to help them strategize on packaging and timing of their latest "nu light")

  i know this topic has been spoken about but i havent seen an official thead about it.

  so theists why did god create these and why does he co tinue to allow them?

  are they from the talking snake, satan?.

  Whilst I do believe there is abundant evidence for an intelligent, wise and loving creator, there is much not revealed or explained in scripture.

  Until experience, science and/or God supply the answer we can often only speculate.

  I also believe that despite many great scientific breakthroughs and discoveries we are still only beginning to scratch the surface and will in future be stunned by our ignorance.

  This makes me think of renowned physicist Lord Kelvin who in 1895, in spite of observing birds fly, declared that "heavier than air flying machines are impossible". The Wright brothers proved him wrong only 8 years later.

  More recently the medical establishment at first laughably rejected Prof Barry Marshall's discovery of the Helicobacter Pylori bacterium and its role in stomach ulcers. It took 23 years before he was awarded a Nobel prize for this discovery.

  Our best scientific minds also believed the jet engine to be impossible right up to its development.

  Despite great advances in Western medicine 9 out of 10 Australians have a 100% chance of getting AND dying from Chronic Disease.

  In short we humans are not as clever as we sometimes imagine.

  Doesn't the ARMAGEDDON teaching foster a MORBID view of the future?

  even when i was dyed-in-the-wool j-dub, i felt the armageddon teaching was one of the most morbid concepts to be hammered into the psyches of jws.

  think about it, only jws would survive this catastrophe, which translates to roughly .001 percent of the population would survive while everyone else would die a horrible death.

  that includes people who do good things and are good people, but are just not jws.

  Amazing Experience while in the Door to Door field service.. The work really is speeding up.

  a pioneer sister who just returned from pioneer school, and her elder husband, who was previously in bethel are in service.. when they come to an enthusiastic house holder.

  after discussing the glorious messianic kingdom that has been ruling since 1914,err 1919 the house holder says "ok this really is good news, what must i do to be saved??".

  brother elder and sister pioneer elder both look at each other, and they know right away the best answer... sister pioneer reaches into her bag pulling out her km approved preaching tablet device (she waves it around a. bit, with the purpose of impressing the householder how advanced the wt is), she then says i want to show you our website, jw .
