Crisis of Conscience should be all the proof one needs if one wants information from a top-level insider. If that doesn?t convince someone about the Tower, then what will? The proof is already out there, but a JW must be willing to read it. Otherwise, they choose to be blind.

What if we started a Watchtower Writer fund?
by ithinkisee inwhat if we started a fund that guaranteed one of the bethel or gb old-timers an income and a place to live for the rest of their life if they turned over information and documents that would crush the society?.
there's gotta be some rich apostates out there right?.
after reading "crisis of conscience" and "search of christian freedom" i was struck by how many men in the writing department and executive committees are fully aware of "the truth about the truth" and how these men are scared to say anything for fear of being cast out of bethel with nothing.. it also explains why some of those brothers that i met while there seemed almost sad and solemn and kept to themselves.. if one of these men knew that he and his wife would have a place to live and a regular income for the remainder of their days ... who knows what could come of it .... anyways ... just my thought for the day.

1950's WT Demonizing of Television (1990's Internet)
by blondie in*** w50 2/15 p. 56 how to stick to it ***.
you have a limited amount of time to give to the training of your mind.
if you consume all of that time with worldly reading, radio entertainment, television, etc., and thinking on earthly things, you are wasting time that can be used to build up a protective barrier against the darts of the enemy.. .

Reading WT quotes is a case study of how an abusive religion works. I still can?t imagine how I believed this swill (well, I grew up in it). It?s as if I was in a dream state while a Witness, and you wakeup saying, ?I had the strangest dream?it was really weird.?

The Celestine Prophecy - The Movie
by frankiespeakin ini remember awhile back many said they enjoyed the fictional book "the celestian prophecy" by james redfield.
well they are making a movie that has been in production for some time now and should be released some time this year.
hear is a site that can give you some interesting info about the author.

I read the The Celestian Prophecy about a dozen years ago. I thought the book was okay, but nothing to get excited about. It?s somewhat of a mystery to me how certain books and authors create a following that goes beyond the norm of popular reads. Maybe it?s a religious mystery that can?t be understood, and requires faith! :-)

International Cultic Studies Association
by JAVA inhas anyone on the forum been involved with the international cultic studies association (icsa) that was formerly american family foundation (aff)?
i receive mailings from them, and it looks like an interesting group.
they are an ?interdisciplinary network of academicians, professionals, former group members, and families who study and educate the public about social-psychological influence and control, authoritarianism, and zealotry in cultic groups, alternative movements, and other environments.?

HadEnuf ? Dr. Enroth has written extensively on cultic and high control groups, as has Michael D. Langone, Ph.D. Thanks for taking a look at their Web site, and pasting the above information. I use Mac computers at home, which don?t work well on this site. In many ways, high-control religions behave the same way, and members share similar experiences, during and after exiting the group. Any interested in scholarly research on manipulation of cultic groups might find the ICSA worth checking out.

Any here commemorate the Memorial on your own?
by pennycandy inif so, why?
and how do you do it?
do you partake?

JAVA
The "Memorial" topic reminds me about something that happend years ago. I had a Service Meeting part, and had a few table props set up on the stage. Before the meeting started, an elderly sister asked me if this was the Memorial. I told her no, and she said, "that's too bad. . . I always enjoy passing the bread and wine." Just think, that was the high point in her life at the JW meetings! :-)

Should I "picket" the JW assembly with my "apostate" friends or not?
by booker-t inevery year since i da'ed myself i have two good friends that are ex-jws that beg me to come and "picket'' the jw assemblies with them.
i have turn them down every year but i kind of think i want to do it because my reasoning is that if i picket i will finally be telling jw's and the wts that i am not afraid of them.
i didn't realize how much "fear" the wts puts into its members until the other day when i ran into my jw sister at the supermarket and she literally left her 1/2 full shopping cart and ran out of the store without speaking to me.

I don't think picketing assemblies helps JWs to see the Tower for what it is. On the other hand, it usually gets some media attention, which shows others there are problems in paradise. Do what helps you--in the end, I think that's what really matters. Several years ago I was interviewed by the newspaper in my area. The paper was doing a series of articles on various religions. The Witnesses were interviewed, and of course everything was roses, but my input painted a very different picture. I understand that the local Witnesses were very upset that I spoiled their day of fame in the press. The Tower usually gets some free press during assemblies; picketing former JWs gets some, too.
