I volunteer at an animal shelter. Once a week, I take the dogs out for a walk.

It is a hard situation. But, as others have mentioned she should concentrate on her education. And realize she still needs to respect her parents and their guidance. And as no one here knows her parents, it would be hard to advise her whether or not she can be open to them about her feelings towards the religion. Some parents may be understanding, but, then others my become harsh and demanding and may even punish her for her honesty. So, sadly, she may have to just go with the flow until she becomes a legal adult and able to move out on her own.

Funniest Talk or Weird Things That Happened In Your Hall.
by Nephilim inthere is always at least 2 or 3 really crazy persons in the kingdom hall.
the kind of person that when they raise their hand the speaker on stage knows he's taking a gamble if he calls on them - yet he can't discriminate.. anyhow, i remember one time a younger brother was doing sound and one of those crazy brothers was about to give his 5 minute talk (i forget what number that was, prior to them just reading scripture).
the crazy brother slipped the young brother doing sound a cd and said "play this when i get on stage".. well, he gets up on stage and all of a sudden hawaiian music starts playing... the man on stage just starts dancing.

Actually, the strangest talk I heard was from a Circuit Overseer about "sex" demons. I kid you not. I, still to this day, do not understand the purpose of that talk.

I really like this show too. I don't have HBO, so I have rented seasons 1-3, I'm still on 2. But, I do notice the similarites with the Witnesses, and even the same terminology. I've heard the terms inactive and apostate on the show. And even a mention of failed predictions.

Was Jehovah God Ever Real To You?
by minimus inwe were supposed to "love" jehovah god.
we were taught how wonderful a god he is and how fortunate we were to be his people.
of course, you can't see jehovah god.

Yes, Jehovah was always real to me. I'm fading, but I still pray to Jehovah. I guess a part of me still believes, while I'm dealing with all these doubts. I always thought that if it wasn't for my belief in Jehovah, I would have left the organization a long time ago. Well, I'm still sorting it all out.

No, I never felt I really fit in anywhere. But, I think if you got one or two close friends, you're doing pretty well.

Missing meetings due to the weather, and then attending meetings is making me Bipolar I think.
by miseryloveselders inwithout divulging too much information about myself, i'm on the east coast, up north.
we've been hammered by snow storms, and from what i hear we've got another one on the way tommorrow night.
this month, i've missed 4 meetings total.

I feel the same way as you. Actually,I'm staying home tonight because there are high winds here and it could start snowing while the meeting is going on. But, actually, sometimes the thought of being at the meetings makes me a nervous wreck. And when I decide to stay home, I start to feel a whole lot better right away.

How miserable are Witless Kids REALLY?
by hamsterbait in25 years ago i lived in an apartment overlooking the grounds of the local high school.. at the time i still totally believed the lie.
a lot of the dub students went to my hell.. i noticed looking out my window, that the witless kids always looked miserable and isolated.

Well, my parents weren't really that strict. So through my grade school years, I was allowed to play with the neighbor kids. When I got older I mainly hung out with the other teenagers at the hall. And we met up others from other congregations. We actually had a lot of fun. We did the normal stuff, movies, concerts, and parties. So, I really didn't feel deprived in any way. Of course, at school, I felt more isolated. And was a target for bullies. But, at the time I really didn't care to fit in at school, because I had a lot of friends at the hall.
