A sincere question to active JW's
by feenx ina recent post displayed a letter written by a current elder.
it got me thinking about active jw's in general, and i am quite curious, in a genuine and sincere manner, how one deals with curiosity and sincere questions and/or concerns about the organization.
in my experience, as with the people i grew up with who now are also out of the organization, we experienced extreme supression while inside.

An Elder wrote anomously...
by Butterflyleia85 ini realize as an elder that i am speaking out against the very organization i try to faithfully represent, but i personally think that the governing body is wrong by teaching that only what they teach us, as printed in the watchtower publications, should be considered to be the truth.
theyve made the expression of any personal opinions or group debates over their official versions of biblical truths subject to disciplinary action often leading to someone being disfellowshipped.. .
that is why i feel that i must keep my own identity somewhat anonymous.

JW since you were small....did your parents expect too much?
by wantstoleave ina couple of other threads made me think about this.. do you think that jw parents expect far more of their children than non-jw parents?
even if we discount the religious side of things, do you think you were more answerable to your parents?
you had fears of disappointing them?.

Bethelite reverence
by Waffles inhave any of you had the experience of a bethelite brother visiting your kh?.
here's how it always seemed to go in my experience:.
there is a general kh-wide excitement in the air that a real, live bethelite rockstar is at the hall; overheard are numerous convo's featuring words like "o, he's a bethelite".. visiting brother bethelite gives the closing prayer and is immediately mobbed by adoring fans.. all the single sisters are on high alert, you can smell the estrogen in the air.

I called my mom.
by lisavegas420 inafter more than 20yrs without a relationship....after more than 5yrs without hearing a word from her, i called.. out of the blue, i just called.. me: hi, mom, it's me lisa.
mom: oh, hi.. me: well, it's been a long time, i just wanted to check and see how you and dad were.. mom: we're fine.. the conversation ranged from, the weather, my husband, my children and grandchildren, (whom she's never met) my animals, gardening.
we talked about how dad was doing now, (after a stroke) how he walks with a cane, and uses an electric wheel chair when they go to walmart.

DECEPTIVE JW ELDERS - CASE#2
by Amazing indeceptive jw elders case#2 .
appointing spiritually qualified men to take the lead and serve as elders and overseers has been a feature of watch tower congregational organization since about 1972. jws were told in talks at conventions, in literature, and finally in the two versions of the organization book that the biblical criteria is used when elders meet to consider some men for appointment as an elder.
jws are also told that these qualified men are already appointed first by holy spirit, and then as the congregation is lead by that spirit to recognize them, the elders meeting is a confirmation of what god has done.
