"There's really no good reason why we should turn our time in late"
by Crisis of Conscience inanother wonderful part this week at the meeting.
and this is what the brother said.. he related examples, based on the om book, as to how jehovah kept records.
funny part is, they all applied to population, the amount of people.. is there any part of the bible that talks about how jehovah kept a log of hours on some occasion?

Some christmas spirit, WT style!
by bohm inwell, i know its a bit self-serving since i allready posted this in jwfacts thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/199939/1/watchtower-images-required, but i think its quite funny and things have been kind of serious around here for the past couple of weeks.. it seem to me that when jahs chanel have desided (im kidding, they has been told) the one and true god really hate christmas and will kill you in nasty ways if you go ahead and celebrate it, it provide a pretty compelling case for not celebrating christmas.
but the governing body can make an even stronger case than that: not only will jesus cry and clice you up if you celebrate christmas, you will also have a really bad time.
wow!.

and often there was never really a obivous reason for it.
well not that we jw's could understand at the time.. even the queen bee's/ elderettes were not immune to this.. what about you?.

Ladies: were you often left to deal with the children at assemblies/meetings?
by JimmyPage inespecially those of you married to servants and elders?
how did you feel about that?
did you wish the society would make more accomodations for dealing with children?.

Why wasn't there anyone as nice as you guys in my KH?
by Little Imp inwhen i first started attending the kh i was newly married and had moved to a new area over an hour away from my nearest family and friends.
i was excited about going (believing it would be similar to churches i had attended in the past) and thought it would be a good way to make new friends.. how wrong was i, no-one seemed to have any personality or sense of humour.. i tried inviting people round for a meal, boy that was an uphill struggle and i lived to regret it.. now, though i haven't met any of you, i feel as i though i know you and would feel totally comfortable in your company and would have got on like a house on fire if we had had a meal together.
the strange thing is all of you have or still do attend a kh and are sooooooooooo different.. discuss.

Essay: Beyond God and atheism: Why I am a 'possibilian'
by BurnTheShips inwe have many interesting debates and discussions on this board between members on both sides of the god/nogod divide.. most of us seem to be quite reasonable, and accept and respect differing points of views.. others, a small minority here, dismiss the opposite side as deluded or evil.
it strikes me that it takes a large amount of mental certainty to do this.. we all have reaped the fruits of such certainty in these matters during our sojourn in the jehovah's witnesses.. this essayist, neuroscientist and fiction writer david eagleman, takes a different view.
as you know, i am a believer in god.
