i thought that this was all out of the way when 2 weeks ago my wife & i handed in letters of disassociation.. we have been since then trying to adjust & just when i thought i was getting somewhere - starting to feel normal again - i got a phone call 1hr ago from our presiding overseer saying that they haven't announced it yet & wanted to talk.. he is a very nice guy & i was caught totally unprepared so i put him off - said i would ring back later - 2pm'ish uk time.. now i have that horrible feeling in my stomach again - help!.
basically, when it comes down to it i don't think we want them to come over - it will open us up too much & i don't want that.. also, though, i want to sort it out; so i am thinking of just chatting to him for a bit on the phone.. i didn't really want to do this since it could knock their faith & also i am not fully ready to argue all of the facts with elders.
however it looks like i will have to.. anyway when it boils down to it they can argue away all of the facts like the un thing etc.
The elders and the Circuit Overseer wanted to talk to me, but I said, "no thanks," that was the end of the conversation. My point is, you don't have to have them over if you do not want. Your point was made in your letter, and that should be the end of it. Hang in there, the first two months were the hardest for me. After that, you get a new outlook on life. One year from now, you will be a better person for it. Good luck to you and your wife.

hi folks,.
i'm doing some interesting research on the procedure of reinstatement back into the org.. if anyone here can relate how many months/years passed by from the time you got df'd, till the time you got reinstated, it would be very helpful.
also include how often elders met with you, if you attended meetings regularly during the time you were df'd, and if you approached the elders for reinstatement(and how many times you approached them), or they approached you.
Richie,
I am so sorry for you. I hate to hear that your own daughter won't speak to you because of a stupid policy. My mother was almost disfellowshiped a little over a year ago. She was afraid I would not talk to her. The elders "spared her" because of my father's very recent death. The thought I would need her to help me grieve. Oh how thoughtful of them.[8>] Little did she know, I was making plans to never return to the Kingdomhall ever again. Now her and I are happy we have left for good.
I only hope the Jehovah's Witnesses will receive some of their new light and see how hurtful their policy is. May they all be damned for spiltting up families.

it has been recorded in his own material, his admittance to being a freemason.
" i am very glad to have this particular opportunity of saying a word about some of the things in which we agree with our masonic friends, because we are speaking in a building dedicated to masonry, and we also are masons.
i am a freemason.

as jws we learned a lot about persuasion and how to get people to accept our ideas.
we had role plays on over coming objections.
we were taught how to anticipate typical questions and respond to them.
As true as what you are saying, I never was good at being a JW. I hated going out in service and I never could convince someone I had the truth. Now that I actually have real truth, I still can't convince a JW that I now have the real truth. So I just stay out of those threads. I read them sometimes to try to learn the art of persuasion.

because they are insane.
mabey not all of them, but the one's i've been exposed to so far have some serious mental problems.
and for the record i'm not talking about their religious beliefs, i'm basing my opinion on direct actions taken by the ones that i have had personal experience with.. thought some of you might be interested in the things that have been going on with me and jon's family.
What is his congregation's address. Perhaps we should start a writing campain. Or what is Jon's father's address, perhaps we should write him too. What a bunch of ASSHOLES!

do they still use counsel slips for the theocratic ministry school?.
i think the three "grades" were .
g = good .
I don't think you are dating yourself. Last year, they still had counsel slips. However, they have a new school book to replace the old red one, so maybe it has changed.

......are drying up?.
when the book revelation....climax was published (1988) it seemed safe to assert that the coming destruction of false religion would derive from the drop in her waters of support i.e.
membership.
As a former JW, I would have read that and not seen any difference. But you are right, the Society slipped another wattage change (new light) in under the ordinary JW Publisher's nose.

is there a new breed of jw emerging, i wonder?.
i know that there are lots of real brainwashed dubs around who see demons behind every car boot sale item and who scuttle off to the elders with every bit of tittle-tattle imaginable, but, i think that there is a new type of dub who quietly does just as he / she pleases.. this is what i think: many of the long-serving jw's who have seen the 1975 failure and the 1914 generation change are now approaching old age with something of a jaundiced eye, and are choosing to do their own thing in their remaining years.
in conversations i am picking up it seems that the elders are being regarded somewhat derisively by many jw's.
What you are saying is true Englishman. Many of the younger ones here in Kansas are living the so called "Double Life", but still go to most of the meetings. The Elders in the Kingdomhalls are so old that they have a hard time doing anything about it. Plus if they did do something about it, they would loose half of the congregation. Now, somebody has to pay the bills and these Elders are so poor, because most of them did not plan for retirement, that they could not pay the Society back on the loan for the Kingdomhall.
