Hi again Leander! I haven't been posting much 'cos I usually feel I don't have too much to add. However, I replied to you initially a week or so ago when you first came on board, and I felt that I kind of identified with what you were going through. To give you my perspective on why it's so hard for ME to leave: In my entire life... fear of hurting family and friends and ALSO losing family and friends (just 'cos they leave you, doesn't mean they don't hurt to some extent too). This past month, by postings on this board (believe it or not!)I feel that I've learned more about actual SPIRITUALITY and what it means to feel God and Christs love than I did all the years in the congregation. I'm like you though... still in and totally wondering if and how I'll ever leave. I find myself saying things to my family lately if they are having a problem or whatever, along the lines of "stop worrying about all the RULES... Jehovah knows..." etc. Sorry if this doesn't factually answer your question... but I think it's a very personal decision and reason for each of us. Hang in there... - Jbean

Reasons why its so hard to break from the WTS
by Leander ini'm still sitting on the fence trying to figure out which direction to go in.
i think one of the reasons i have'nt left yet is because of the fact that i'm not entirely sure that the wts is really not god's organization.. some of the reasons why i feel that way is because of their insight on the scripture.
i've never heard of any other religion attempt to decipher the prophecies in the book of daniel and revelations.

Feeding the Annointed
by radar inone of the things that often crossed my mind when looking at the watchtower study, was where was this spiritual food for the annointed?.
the whole point of the so called faithfull slave class, is according to the watchtower to feed the "domestics"(annointed household of god).
yet mostly the themes of the watchtowers were for the great crowd.. how many watchtowers do you re-call centred on the heavenly calling?.

Why do you think they don't write about the annointed so much anymore?

Hi all! Answer to the questions... yes & yes! I've been quietly celebrating for YEARS... without my JW family & friends catching on. I had a husband that wasn't a JW (so it was easy to say I was submitting to his headship!) but am now divorced and since the divorce have had a few non-JW boyfriends. My current boyfriend's family knows of my background and gets a kick out of the fact that I'm more, as they say: "festive", than the rest of them at this time of year. I'm sad that my JW family has never experienced the warmth, light and love of the season. But there's always hope... : ) Side note: it's amazing that non-JW's are so non-judgemental... like my boyfriend's family... they don't care WHAT I call myself, as long as I'm loving, kind and respectful to them and their son.

My past weekend
by Leander insaturday afternoon i made the decision to step down as a minsterial servant.
i had given it a lot of thought and i came to the conclusion that i would be doing the right thing.
i told my wife about the decision i had planned on making and that basically killed her mood for the rest of the day.

Leander... thank you for sharing your heart with us. I totally understand where you're coming from. I keep coming back to this board because I feel the need to be informed. I encourage you to keep at it and don't "neglect the fellowship" of those here that have come to know you a bit and feel for you. If you haven't already, PLEASE read Crisis of Conscience! --JBean

A few things I don't understand about the bible
by Leander inthere have always been things about the bible that never really made much sense to me.
not to say that i disagree with whats in the bible but i have wondered about the fairness of certain things.. 1. for example i've always even as a child thought that it was odd that so many people would die during armageddon.
now as an adult and i understand people better than i did years ago i really do feel puzzled about the fact that according to the scriptures the majority of mankind will perish.

Hi Erik... welcome! I personally feel that is exactly why most JW's preach... that scripture and also the one where Jesus tells his followers to "go and make disciples in all the earth..."

Hi! We've both been on this board for about the same amount of time! Well... I'm still in and finally got the courage to "take a look". This board, as well as key other sites, is helping me immensly in my private, personal struggle. I believe in my first few days of having my "eyes opened", I made a similar comment that there are more than likely hundreds if not thousands of actual CURRENT JW's who are lurking. Time will tell...JBean
