Interesting facts, Joel. How do you feel about Barry Manilow? Do gay men like male performers the same as they have their "special" female ones? (I love Barry by the way...: ) He & Bette were tight for a long time, if I recall correctly!

Relating to Non-JW's
by LucidSky ini read the "ex-witness singles" thread and it seems like a good idea.
the thought has crossed my mind many times before since non-jw's often don't seem to care or understand.
i would love being able to relate on something that has played such an important part of your lives (uh, understated - something your world is supposed to revolve around.

Joelbear, Gopher and the rest of you... I am falling off my chair laughing... Where DID you all grow up, man?! ahahah! I actually can't remember being invited to any parties where games like this were played... I DO remember going to lots of parties where all the "youth" would pair off and make out in dark corners... yup.. those were the good old days! Oh.. btw... all my friends that threw these parties... ooppsss! Not JW's anymore...

Circuit Assembly Bklyn NY -Saturday 4/6/02
by worf inmy sister went to the circuit assembly this past weekend here in bklyn ny.. they had a young sister on the platform helping to promote pioneering.the interesting point about this is that this young sister is attending college full time and actually said this in front of the audience.she brought out that she is going to college full-time and that since she "has only one more year left, she will wait to pioneer when she is in her last year of college because maybe then it probably won't be so hard.
" these were her exact words.. i find this to be very interesting.
those of us who have done parts or experiences or talks for circuit assemblies know that each talk and each part is scrutinized in practice sessions prior to the assembly in front of the circuit overseers.

for those who "grew up in the borg"
by zev inat this late, middle stage of my life, i've started wondering, now that i know what i know, about the things in my life that i "lived" with.
having been raised all my life in the "borg" i have known nothing else.
when questions began forming years ago, it started me thinking.

In reading through some of these posts... I find myself getting all choked up. I truly identify. I was born & raised in the organization. I didn't have much problems in school or anything... I was and still am very very outgoing and was pretty popular. My folks let me do just about any activity I desired (except cheerleading!) : ) One or two folks here said something about the "living forever" aspect of the religion. This is something that I still struggle with today. I don't believe half the stuff the org teaches... but it is SO INGRAINED into my being that I may never have to die... I just don't know how to handle this sometimes. I find myself still wishing that God WOULD bring about a new system of things for everyone who was good and righteous. It's a VERY frightening thing to ponder, that yes, we all probably will die some day. -- Jbean (in the process of finding herself!)
