JW urban legends
by berten inin my time as jw there was at least one urban legend that was very popular.
amongst jaydubs.this was about the dog named "jehovah" by it's jw-hating owner.
so that when he got visited by them once again,he could shout "jehovah,attack!"..

Oh my GOD!!! I totally have forgotten about all those wacky "stories" told as if they were the gospel truth!!!! I shudder to think how I used to repeat them to "non believers" not even caring how they looked at me as if I were nuts!! HA! (ps: the Dog named Jehovah and that one about the sister going to the door and not being raped/killed 'cos of the angels must have been the two BIGGIES of our time... I'm on the east coast of the US and they were repeated for YEARS!!!)

Bill... I too would pray that you "hang in there" You are doing SUCH an important work, and if you D/A, then you are playing their games, as SYN said. You may (or may not) know it, but SO MANY people appreciate the hard work, sweat and tears you've put in so far. (Along with the others that help) The TV report was very, very powerful. So many of my non-JW friends just could NOT believe it and now will never speak to Witnesses when they come to their doors, again. And are also helping to "spread the word". I would hope that in your shoes, I could be so strong. You're in our thoughts & prayers... Jbean

My uncle was found DEAD this morning
by Fire Dragon inmy jw dad called me this morning and told me that he found my jw uncle dead, face-down on the floor in his home.
he's taking it hard.
i was shocked to hear him say that he wanted me to be with the family.

I am... but I can't tell ya where right now! Very complicated. Just want to say hi again... I've been off the board for a while for business-related reasons... but I missed this and I'm sure missed A LOT of information. If anyone feels that I should read a few particular threads, esp. around UN issue or pedophile issues (esp. after that Dateline show!) please point me in the right direction.

Wow. I can't believe I had the same feeling. The chills went all along my arms! My (non-JW) boyfriend was looking at me in amazement the entire time the segement was on. He said my eyes were HUGE! Now I just have to sit through it again with my JW parents... hopefully they'll see the POINT! heh! Jbean

Believe it or not, the "marry only in the Lord" thing, where "the Lord" meant only JW's never really sat well with me. Other than that, I never paid much attention to the "little details" : ) until: I read Crisis of Concience and the link with the UN became known. I will NEVER reconcile with that. That was the proverbial "straw". Jbean

Well, here's my story... Like it or not.
by staceman inwow... i feel guilty about even being here, let alone posting my story.
but here goes.... it was back in the late 60's that my dad (actually stepdad who adopted me and my older sister when he married our mother) got witnessed to by a guy that he worked with.
he was invited to our house for dinner along with his wife and that was the beginning of my new life.
