The point of the discussion is not whether or not you need a mediator. What's important is the fact that most Witnesses think they need a mediatior - and that they have one. This is contradicted by official Watchtower doctrine.

Thanks to modern technology another MYSTERY solved. Amelia Earhart's plane found
by Newly Enlightened insatellites are so good now that archeologists don't even have to go digging around.
they can see these things from space.. http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/14734137-amelia-earharts-plane-found-on-ocean-floor-sonar-image-near-nikumaroro-island-locates-wing.

There have been other instances were some one thought they found her plane. The basic problem is that between 1941 and 1945 tens of thousands of planes were shot down over the Pacific Ocean, large numbers of them in the general of Earhart's final flight. It's going to take more than a sonar image to confirm this.

What are your feelings about U S Supreme Court DNA ruling?
by Glander inwashington -- a narrowly divided supreme court ruled monday that police can collect dna from people arrested but not yet convicted of serious crimes, a tool that more than half the states already use to help crack unsolved crimes.. this dna sample will of course go into a huge database similar to fingerprints.. .
-
JeffT
I can't see the difference between this and fingerprints, it's part of determining who you are. I'm trying to find out if the collection of fingerprints was ever challanged in court. It seems fingerprint evidence decided a case in 1911, but I can't locate any evidence that there was a similar court challange to routine collection of fingerprints.

I just scanned the 1979 articles in question. I can upload them to photobucket and post them if anybody know if I can do it without getting Simon in trouble. If this has been replaced by noolite (I don't think it has been) I'd like to see that article.

For believers, prayers requested
by StAnn inmy brother's stepson, wesley reier, accidentally overdosed on drugs.
he is considered brain dead.
his biological parents have decided to put him in a nursing home, where he will remain for the rest of his natural life.
-
JeffT
StAnn, you and your family have my thoughts and prayers. No one who hasn't been there can understand the difficulty of watching a loved one struggle with addiction. Nor can one who has not been there understand the problems of breaking free. I've been in both places. My heart goes out to your family.

Any fellow writer's or copyright lawyer's on here?
by Newly Enlightened ini've run into a problem and have some questions..... i'm sure most of you have seen the video on jwstruggle's youtube channel regarding my book i wrote in 2002 and the problem with the elders on getting it published.
well after my contract ran out in 2003, i retained all the rights and they told me that all left over copies would be destroyed except the few legal copies being sold on amazon, barnes & noble, alibris, etc.. so, because of the video someone asked about my book and i said that it was no longer available, they wrote back and told me it's all over the internet.. come to find out, a large canadian publisher bought out my original publisher in 2007 and 'accidently' downloaded the original file onto their computers and started selling my book [hard copies & digital] without a contract.. my question is, anyone know what the going asking price for a quiet settlement is for this type of thing?.
i know i'm not dan brown or clive cussler and probably won't get millions, but i don't want to get short-changed either.. thanks.

Oubiliette makes a good point makes a good point. Instead of having a "you stole my book" discussion you might want to turn this into "please keep selling my book, just remember to send me my royalty checks." Sounds like you'll need a new contract, and hopefully you have the right lawyer.

Possible solution to the "cut and paste" vs copyright law problem
by JeffT inthis thought was sparked by a thread about possible copyright violations.
people here want to provide backup for an argument they are making, or demand proof of some sort from people they debating.
the result seems to be endless wars of cutting and pasting sometimes huge chunks of materials from some place else.

My proposed solution: simply link the source or your information. This provides an outside source for your facts and since it a citation, not actually copied material, it does not constitute a violation of copyright law.
Example: "Fair Use" allows you to copy portions of a copyrighted work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use

CALL A LAWYER NOW. Sorry to shout, but as a writer myself this kind of thing enrages me. A lawyer can advise you about the real deal, they may think they purchased your contract when they purchased your old publisher. That might, in fact be true, in which case they owe you whatever money would be due under the contract. Otherwise they are in major trouble.
A hope you can get it worked out.
