We tried armed resistance to a democratically elected President. It took four years and 600,000 lives to prove that it was a bad idea.

Would it be ethical for another nation to supply weapons to anti-Trump protesters?
by fulltimestudent inthe usa, claiming that the usa supports freedom, has often supported revolutionaries/dissenters in other countries.. some examples:.
currently, the syrian war commenced circa 2011 in the so-called arab spring.
it is claimed that the usa supplied weapons to anti-government forces.

Yeah I'm looking forward to it. We won't see a super moon this big again until 2034.
Don't be too disappointed.. I can't find the numbers just now, but this supermoon is all of 41 miles closer than the on in 1948. Out of a distance of 221,000 miles, this isn't a real big deal.

Election Post-Mortem
by Simon ini'm sure many people, republicans included, are shocked at the results of the 2016 presidential election.
really, wtf!.
the polls were wrong and although it's tempting to blame voter suppression and fbi interference, that would just avoid looking at the real issues for the loss.

Could the reason that the media was fact-checking Trump more than Hillary be that Trump is more dishonest than Hillary?
No. I was talking specifically about debate moderators. It isn't their job.
It wasn't about how the server was configured. It shouldn't have been there at all, and she should not have been running classified documents through it AT ALL.
The second President of the United States signed a law making it illegal to criticize the President, it was done at least once more that I can think of (it was the law that Rutherford et al were sent to jail for violating).
Hilary proposed using executive orders to promote gun control, we can debate if that is a legal use of executive power. I don't think it is, and we didn't hear much about it except when the media were making fun of Trumping saying she wanted to expand gun control. http://www.wsj.com/articles/hillary-clintons-gun-control-proposals-to-include-executive-action-1444017603
Hilary also proposed a no fly zone over Aleppo, this would bring us into direct military action against the Russians. I didn't hear very much about that.
Edited to add: keep in mind, I did not vote for Trump and I'm not defending him. I didn't vote for him because I think he's ignorant and crazy. I didn't vote for Hilary because I think she's arrogant and unethical. Note: unethical does not mean crooked. I think she'd done a lot of things, that while legal, are not right. The server, and her personal finances (such as some of the Clinton Foundation accounting and the big payments for speeches to Wall Street) fall into that category.

Bohm my complaint with the news media isn't about length of time (well actually it is - if you watched US news you wouldn't know there was anything else going on in the entire world). It's about the nature of the coverage.
The most obvious examples were the debate moderators fact checking Trump, but not so much Hilary. This isn't there job, its the other candidates job.
The email issue was badly presented by the media. For example, Hilary got away with saying that she didn't have anything "marked" classified on the server. This is irrelevant, material is classified because of what it is, not how it was marked. I learned a lot talking to military people about classified information, that I never heard about from the media.

It's interesting to sit back and watch this debate as a disinterested observer. I agree that CNN was more tolerable than the others. It was not unbiased, The others went down hill from there, although I can't say for sure about Fox, I haven't watched it in a decade or so.
For those that wonder about my "disinterested" status - I'm a Libertarian. I know, most of you think that means I'm a Republican in disguise. All my Republican friends think we're Democrats in disguise.

Millionaire Witnesses WTF lol?!
by Alostpuppydog inso i know one should remove his own stick from his own eye before ones self judges another, but i noticed something.
it seems that the wealthy witnesses are the elders, the circuit overseers, the governing body... are they really different from any other 'worldly' religions or even organizations?
i mean look at the jewels the friggen pope wears.

The nicest elder I ever knew was also the wealthiest person in the congregation. Really a nice guy, who stepped down for a while because he couldn't take the BS from the other elders. They talked him in to coming back because everybody liked him and he made things run smoothly.

Yeah, having ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC and the New York Times spouting Democratic talking points 24/7 wasn't enough.

I Think I have Found a Way to Litigate
by Simon Templar ini have been thinking about how the wtb&t society bullies all of its members into submission with the threats they use (by practice), i.e.
“if you do this we will df you and you will be shunned”.
“if you da yourself, we will make an announcement and your friends, relatives and family will abandon you”, etc.

It works both ways - we can't have people forced to associate with us but in return, we are not forced to associate with them.
This.
If you can make them talk to you, there will be nothing to stop them from coming to your house and preaching to you for twelve hours non-stop.

One thing that's strange is how many issues seem to have a correlation even though they shouldn't ...
Good points Simon. Try saying that you think that BOTH the right to marry whomever you want AND the right to own a gun are protected by the Constitution. I keep running into people who seem to think holding both of those ideas is wrong, or impossible. Or that believing one implies agreement with some extreme position. For example saying that I believe one has a general right to own a gun doesn't mean I'm opposed to background checks.
We've created this horrid all or nothing binary division that makes discussion and compromise a thing of the past. The politicians on both sides won't settle for anything less than all of everything they want. Increasingly, the result is nobody gets anything.

Keep in mind, that law is a reaction to JFK's appointment of his brother as AG in 1961. I was very young, but I can remember the controversy about it.
