I am disinclined to believe this for a simple reason: I can think of no good reason for the Watchtower to undertake this much risk. I know somebody is going to say they are laundering money from Kingdom Hall sales or hiding it from lawyers. Neither of those things are workable ideas. At some point the lawyers are going to start filing liens against Watchtower properties if they can't get their money any other way. And if they are laundering money, the government can seize Warwick through civil forfeiture.

Smuggling
by lastmanstanding inthe international assemblies are on... and the missionaries are coming home... and leaving richer.. i have, in all seriousness, been told by a co that the missionaries going home have large sums of money hidden in their luggage as they go back to their assignments.
.
he related how one couple was almost caught with the undeclared cash as they passed through customs.. this has been going on for quite some time, the watchtower using missionaries are mules.. i bet with all the kingdumb hall sales the pace has picked up..

I became a witness about the time I was graduating from college. I was accepted at grad school and could have gotten a Master's degree in Education but passed it up because the end was two years away (1975). Nine years later I got smart and went back to school to study business. I was an XJW five years later.

And fifty years from now, he can die still waiting for Armageddon and wishing he'd taken the money.

STOP treating Watchtower Bible & Tract SOCIETY as a RELIGION
by Nathan R. Koppe in"the watchtower society is not a religious society for 👥 public worship, such as a ⛪️ church, but is a 💲 business corporation..."
➡️ please use and demonstrate this if you are involved in any legal action, it's not about religious rights and freedom, this is where they are 'fooling' their followers and authorities❗️
➡️ the purpose of disfellowshipping, disassociating and shunning are 'legalistic and pharisaical tricks' to 'name and shame' anyone asking (the right) questions about it's biblical teachings (aka) doctrines, (abuse) policies and the real truth about the 'truth' (aka apostate)❗️

Sorry, your posts are too long, rambling, incoherent and the links don't work. You may have good ideas and information, but the presentation needs serious work.

Do Celebrities Influence You In Making Your Decisions?
by minimus inwhether it be sports athletes or hollywood heavyweights or talk show hosts—do these people influence your thinking?.

Robert A. Heinlein said if you're not sure what to do, find some well meaning idiot (there's always one around) ask them what they'd do, then do the exact opposite.
With the celebreties, you don't have to ask, they broadcast their idiocy all the time whether we want it or not.

What is the biggest doctrinal mistake made by the Watchtower /JWorg. ?
by Finkelstein inpersonally i think it is 1914 and the following " this generation " doctrine.. this particular doctrine went right against jesus's own words of " no one knows of the time not even he " .
he also admonished his true followers to not set a time upon god's own sacred time .. the leaders of the wts even back to the late 1800's set a time calculated on their own theology 1874 being the first time set and proclaimed by c t russell, also proclaiming 1914 would likely be the year of the final day of judgment armageddon.
all throughout the 20th century the wts held to this doctrine but was eventually revised of course when it was realized this generation had passed away who saw the events of 1914. .

The biggest doctrinal mistake is their insistence that "God has an organization and we're it." Everything else flows from there.

Window Washers
by Nikki collins ini know @hiddenpimo is going to laugh at me for this because we had several in our old congregation, but what is with all the window washing businesses owned/managed by jws???
they are everywhere!
.

My first congregation was located in Pullman, WA. Pullman is a small college town, if you take away Washington State University, there's nothing there. Several brothers were trying to pioneer and make money as janitors/window washers. Because of the nature of the town the only way any of them could make more was to steal business from somebody else in the congregation. It frequently caused bitterness and divisions.
I have a BA from WSU in English, and a diploma in accounting from a private vocational school. I had a pretty good career as an accountant. I've made a grand total of $900 as a writer, although I hope to have a book out this fall. Who knows I might push my life time total from the English degree over the $1000 mark.

Can We Sue The Watchtower For Mental and Emotional Harm Do To Its Mind Control Techniques
by Humphry ini think there is enough information available for a case to be made of the type of emotional and mental harm one is exposed to.
get some good expert witnesses could work??
?.

I smart lawyer would cite the fact that we're all here as proof that WTBS doesn't control people's minds. Those that don't like being part of the religion can, obviously, leave if they want to.

LV, I suspected that's what you did. I'd love to see The Hermitage, Years ago I took a class in Russian history (I minored in history). Fascinating place.
From stories I've heard from friends EVERY Aeroflot flight looks like its traveling between refugee camps (and may not make it to the next one.)
I do believe we must approach nuclear power with a clear head and a commitment to follow established procedure as in "don't turn the ****ing safety system off."

There are reasonable concerns, and reasonble responses to those concerns regarding the safety of nuclear power. If we are going to be serious about climate change we need nuclear power to bridge the gap until better systems are created. Either that or we can sit in the dark.
We have safe ways of disposing of the waste (glassification) and the volume of material involved is small compared to say, the chemical industry. Blondie, I've studied technology issues for a long time (even when I was a JW). I've never heard a serious proposal to send it into space.
The lesson of Chernobyl is "don't turn off the safety systems." The plant blew up because the guy in charge was an idiot - as well portrayed in the series.
LV101, I have no idea what you saw in 1981-1982. The Chernobyl event was in 1986.
