Joe, please read the links regarding Rick Ross, who wrote the piece cited in the OP. He's not an unbiased source, there are good reasons to question the accuracy of what he says. Steve Hassan has done some very good work, I will not negate that based on unverified rumor.

The issue is trying to justify his fees.
He doesn't have to justify his fees. If you don't like them, don't engage his services. And read the link OTWO posted, its informative.

Rick Ross, who runs Cult Education is in much the same line of work, although I believe he's limited his practice. I'd take this with a grain of salt.

A shotgun will do the trick just fine, although US law is still trying to figure out the legal aspects. I think a rock will also work, although it might be more work. If you think you are in danger or your privacy has been invaded the legal issues will be easier to navigate. If the drone is carrying a weapon, or video taping your underage child those issues clear up, at least to some extent.

According to one JW there can only be 1 of 3 reasons why you left.
by Bonsai ini asked an old jw friend of mine why so many baptized individuals leave the jw religion.
"did it ever occur to you, old friend, that maybe they know something that you don't know and have valid reasons for leaving?
", i asked.. his response set me back for an answer.

He said, " The vast majority of those who leave the truth do it for one of three reasons:
And he knows this how? How many XJW's has he talked to on this subject? Has he done a statistical analysis? I've never once had an active JW ask me why I left, I assume because they aren't supposed to talk to me at all. That policy means that no JW can possibly know why we left.

I feel slightly demonized after watching this
by rebel8 inhttps://www.facebook.com/officialanttix/videos/1344960652199711/.
“the essence, the soul, of disco was shown to be free,“liberated” sexual expression….satan is manipulating this world for his own purposes, shouldn’t we expect that he would also use the world’s entertainment in his efforts to turn people from true worship?” awake 1979 dec 22 p.20.
to cure me of the demons i just caught, maybe i should say 5 hail marys look at jw dot org 3x and put a napkin on my head the next 5 times my husband is in the room.

I won't go so far as to say it's Satanic, but I do think Disco was some of the crappiest music ever invented.

Two years ago I posted an article on my blog about the Watchtower's real estate holdings (http://pathologicallyintellectual.blogspot.com/2014/09/analysis-of-watchtower-real-estate.html). Obviously they would want to get their hands on the money some how. I suspected that they were running return on investment calculations on every property (or intended to at some point). They would then sell off any hall that didn't meet their target.
If the target rate is 4%, a reasonable estimate in this economy, they would expect a hall worth half a million to send $20,000 a year from the congregations using it. If they don't get that much, they can sell the hall, invest the money and come out ahead. So this meeting raises another question. Are they telling the elders the target return, so they can shake down the flock, or are they just selling off the properties?
I can see them pursuing the first tactic, at least for a while. The elders will go back and give talks about how they need to cough up "X" more dollars or the Society will be forced to sell the Hall and everybody will have to drive across town to go to meeting. If that doesn't produce more money they can consolidate halls, probably figuring that anybody that bails out wasn't contributing that much to begin with.
This will be a very interesting story to watch.

What do you think would have happened to you if...
by LevelThePlayingField inyou found out about ttatt way back in the 70's or maybe the 80's (basically before the internet) and you thought that you were all alone in this knowledge?
what do you think would have happened to you?
no jehovahs-witness.com, no john cedars, no arc, no jwfacts.com and no crisis of conscience to fall back on.

My wife and I stopped going to all meetings in 1988, and DA'd in 1989. We spent all our free time doing research in bookstores and libraries. In late 1988 we met up with a support group of XJW's that met once a month in church about half an hour away from our house. It took some time, but we built new lives and new friends. Most of her family and all of mine were non-JW's so we had somewhere to go for company.
