In Latin the definition of "specula" is as a verb, meaning "speculating, to speculate on something" and as a noun meaning either a watchtower, or the tool OBGYN Doctors insert into a woman's vagina to see inside.

by Gratefullyunstuck inmaybe i'm reading too much into this, but ever looked in a dictionary for the definition of watchtower ?.
watchtower (wchtour)n.an observation tower on which a guard or lookout is stationed to keep watch, as for enemies, for forest fires, or over prisoners.. .
slightly interesting, observation = gb, enemies= worldly folk and prisoners =rank/file.

Did not Attend Mid-Week Meeting but Felt Good - Strange Feeling?
by ProfCNJ inhi folks.
the usual feeling for me - when i missed mid-week meetings - is to feel guilty, sad or depressed.
it normally involved negative feelings.

I agree, missing a meeting leaves me with a much quiter and peaceful feeling.
Having to attend once in a while to keep relatives off your back is definitely a chore.
Having to listen to mind numbing talks and experiences that make you want to scream "B*llsh*t!" is troublesome.
And having to hold back puking at some of the comments from brain washed publishers is difficult.
So much nicer to avoid the black void of KH meetings.

Jehovah told to Moses: "....kill every woman who has had sexual relations with a man"
by opusdei1972 inin numbers 31 we read the following:.
jehovah then told moses:2 take vengeance for the israelites on the midianites.
afterward you will be gathered to your people.3 so moses spoke to the people, saying: equip men from among you for battle against midian and to execute jehovahs vengeance on midian.4 you should send 1,000 of each tribe of all the tribes of israel into the army............ 7 they waged war against midian, just as jehovah had commanded moses, and they killed every male.8 along with the others slain, they killed the kings of midian, namely, evi, rekem, zur, hur, and reba, the five kings of midian.

If you carefully read the verses discussed, you can see that God only instructed Moses to take vengeance against the Midianites for the wrong they did to Israel.
Since the Midianites were also Hebrews like the Israelites the battle laws against the Canaanites didn't apply.
Moses wife's family were Kenites that is from Midian.
It is Moses who gets all bent out of shape about the women and children being left alive and then orders to kill them.
It was not a command of God that the children and mothers should be slaughtered.
God did allow this to happen, but Moses was not allowed into the promised land especially for taking matters into his own hands.
Jesus, when discussing about the resurrection, said that Moses is the one that allowed for polygamy and divorce etc. although this was not the arrangement of God from the beginning.

The King of the North is getting Angry...
by rhodesboy inthis topic is of a theological nature.
if you have some scriptural insight, please share.
grievances are not welcome!.

I grieve the unwelcoming attitude towards grievances!
Boo-hoo!
Is a grievance more or less like a complaint?
If not I'd like to complain about the theoretical theological nature of the original post.

Okay, so they're going to block his view. Well he may be able to block their hearing the meetings with broadcasting over loudspeakers about WT indiscretions proving the GB to be the bunch of liars they are and have been through the decades.
Get some noise cancelling earphones for yourself and then let the show begin. Every morning meet them for field service. They'll quickly change to a home location to meet for service. Every Sunday and Weekday meeting let the show begin in earnest. If it was good enough for Drunk Rutherford to put his talks on loudspeakers and blast them from moving vehicles then it should be good enough for the KH attendees.
He could also play all kinds of Christian Church music, Mariachi band tunes, Saturday Night Fever Disco, or maybe AC/CD and Metallica if he liked instead, then again repeating the same Umpa band German beer drinking song might be just the thing to break the concentration of many in the KH and counteract the brainwashing spiel from the podium.
They say having a purpose in life can make you live longer and enjoy life more.
Well then let the loud broadcasting with a purpose begin!
Help undo the brainwashing going on nextdoor.

The WT at JW.org in Spanish is calling the Governing Body "consejo central" without capitalizing the name.
Here's the Spanish news release item about Guy Pierce passing away:
The English news release is at:
http://www.jw.org/en/news/releases/by-region/world/guy-pierce-governing-body-member-dies/
Now compared to the English news item is there really a need to say "consejo central" in order to explain the term Cuerpo Gobernante?
Or is this leading to a renaming of the WT Oligarchs?

Now, if you believe in God, then put your faith in the ransom, the redemptive value, of Christ's sacrifice and
follow his teachings. Share with others your hope in him and his promises of everlasting life in the Kingdom of the heaven.
If you've lost your faith in God then that may not mean much to you, but you can treat others with the kindness and
respect that fellow human beings should have for one another realizing we all have feelings and aspirations for a better
life, for safety, for continued learning and the hope of peace among equals in the human race.
Personally, my fading away from the WT is bringing me closer to God and Christ, I feel like I've rejoined humanity at
large, which I learned to appreciate from reading Ray Franz's books. And... although a believer in Christ I can find
empathy and compassion for others no matter what faith they have or how different or similar their culture or background
may be from mine.
