I need some advice please!!! I'm torn on what to do.
by Gojira_101 inthis morning i woke up thinking about a friend of mine, i will call her sara...here's some of the back story.. we grew up together and have always been good friends, even though we wouldn't stay in touch, we would just pick up where we left off.
sara has always been different, and i never really knew what it was growing up, but i didn't care, she was my friend.
so we lost touch for many years and then about 4 yrs ago when i went back to my home town, we reconnected.

Bit of a marathon but very sad. It is appalling how people show a lack of compassion for one another at a time when anyone with any empathy would show sympathy. Shows the amount of control the organisation has over it's members and a shocking abuse of power.

Hate Crime against Members of a Congregation
by cantleave ini recieved this email from an active witness regarding "hate crimes" against members of the congregation he/she attends.
it is interesting as to how the elders are dealing with it.. .
for some time our hall has been suffering minor vandalism.

It is truly sad that someone has been made to feel so upset that they feel that this is an appropriate way to express their rage who ever it is. However victimising elderly women living alone is not acceptable. If the elders wish to keep it within the hall then they should offer CCTV to the elderly ones being targeted so they can determine who exactly is doing the damage.
It is easy to assume that it is someone who has been Df'd but it does not necessarily mean it is so. It is so easy for witnesses to believe someone who rejects the organisation also rejects any moral compass. There are many people with an axe to grind not just those abused by this organisation.

The radio show was awesome so much better than the films. If you can get to listen to them they are a real treat.

Change the lock on the door, if you are the tenant you do have rights and if the man is violent you need security. Who knows what sets him off or what his triggers are but it seems as if this has been stewing for a while.
Keep yourself safe

Could the JWs sway you back...?
by new22day inop based on mr. freeze's topic - could attending the meetings/studying again sway any of you back to the org.
hearing the propaganda over and over again is pretty powerful i'm sure.
(i'm a non-jw, non-christian (no offense), stubborn as a bull and even i had moments of pause based on some of the doctrine (lasted 30 seconds) but i never had family/friends at stake or a background in this.

No once you know it is a lie there is no going back, there is no attraction or curiosity and certainly nothing spiritual about a group of people who choose to worship a publishing house.

Is a slow fade being selfish when you have kids?
by dissonance_resolved inso i got some great advice to take things very slowly with the husband and kids in order to be able to fade and still maintain contact with my parents and siblings.
but today i got a call from my son's teacher that he was having a meltdown because he was worried about all his friends and teachers being destroyed at armageddon.... first i felt like such a schmuck for ever having allowed that thought to enter my son's head, then i thought, is it psychological torture for me not to immediately correct the situation?
i had a long talk with him about how god is perfectly just and full of love and he didn't have to worry about that at all, but it still seemed lukewarm.

We had a similar situation, my son was self harming in school and was hiding under the library table screaming about bad books and meteors. He has Aspergers so his reactions can be extreme but we were very concerned about him. Our other concern was expecting our children to keep a secret in such a high pressure environment as the kingdom hall. I was worried that if they let things slip and we were DF'd as a result they would feel guilty and think it was their fault.
Our fade was to relatively short as a result and very early on we decided that the children should be allowed to participate in activities previously banned such as parties, assemblies, school activities and sports. It took a very short time for them to shake off their conditioning and start building a new life.
We were fading as a family so our choices were based on that different circumstances require different strategies. However one might be that suggesting that until your son is emotionally more stable he has a routine that merans early nights and no late night meetings. The disruption to his sleep routine may be adding to the problem and limiting meeting attendance will start to weaken the hold the doctrines have on him.

They are dealing with new territory here so it is no wonder they are not the slick machine we were expecting.
They will keep at it though you can guarantee that.
