  sect to mean a group that has broken away from an established religion

  That is what you did WT when you broke off from the adventists...

  They neither follow a human nor isolate themselves from the rest of society

  Not in a commune but they separate from everyone else socially. How isolated is the witness kid who has to go to the library or out in the hallway every time there is a birthday or holiday activity? How many times is it pounded in to their heads that "worldly association" is bad and they can only have friends "in the truth" Even then, they have set up a tattle tale community where dissenters and sinners are blackballed either officially or by marking.

  to be a true believer means that every time you make a decision as to what to do with your time next you have to chant:.

  "prayer, study, meetings, service.".

  I think a fairly small percentage really follows ALL of the preaching direction to a T. I know I did not, i laughed to myself silently as they demo people harassing others with tracts in the doctors office. I laughed as they demo going on vacation in Kansas so they could work isolated territory.

  Ya right, I took my vacation in Cali, Mexico, or Florida. I didnt bring a shred of WT material, nor my dress clothes. Those were my weeks off from the cult, and though I didnt really recognize it at the time is was time to be my "true self" No wonder i loved going on vacation so much.

  Now the true believers, yeah I agree those are some scary folks.

  I need help urgently

  can anyone provide the date, page and para of the watchtowers where it says in the 'koolaid' version that the org is directed by god/holy spirit and the 'public' version where it states they are not.

  i know they are both reasonably recent, possibly 2009. i did have the information written down but, the muppet that i am, i tidied my desk and shredded some paper work and i must have shredded the piece of paper with the dates on.. i need them tonight for sil parents who are visiting........ i'm on a mission.. thanx..

  Do JW's (and uppity-christians in general) walk around with a false sense of accomplishment?

  i ask this because so many times when i was growing up, i was told that a certain sister or brother wasnt spirtually enough because of this or that.

  i wanted to ask the person who said this: what makes you so spiritual, especially since you do the same thing that the so called unspirtually person does.

  Well that question is certainly and easy set-up. Can't speak for other Christian orgs as I have never even attended a religious service outside of the Kingdom Hall.

  The JW religion is fully based on how the performance is viewed from the outside. Were they in service on Saturday? Were they at the meeting Sunday? Did they comment at the meeting? Were they at the meeting on Tuesday? Did they have a part or a demonstration? Is that brother working overtime and missing meetings? Is that sister pioneering during the "Memorial season?" Is that couples' child becoming an unbaptized publisher? Is that teenager going to pioneer after high school?

  You get the gist, there is an infinite number of questions being posed at all times through the WT and through the meetings telling people they have to "accomplish more" or else Jehovah is going to murder them once he gets around to Armageddon.

  So these poor people struggle to keep up appearances in this sham of a religion, all to keep the rest of the "flock" from gossiping about them about how unspiritual they are.

  So the "self-righteous" ones walk around like a peacock, strutting their shi!t in front of everyone else as the model of JW perfection. Sick.

  that was before everything was exposed.. i tried to do a search on the wt cd, but must not be very good at it..

  Some are able to compartmentalize for a really long time. If you are an intellectually honest person, at some point you have to move on. I would guess that for most it becomes absolutely intolerable somewhere between a year and 18 months after you know the truth about the truth. For me, I could not attend in good conscience after about a year of knowing, damn the consequences.

  Those who can go for years are truly long suffering!

  I plan on a serious weekend of college and pro football viewing...yeah kinda lame but Alabama-Florida should be awesome

  i awoke a couple minutes before my alarm clock went off, as i always do.

  its rare that the alarm wakes me.

  I get what you are saying....happens to me a few times a year. I don't chalk it up to a mid life crisis or anything like that, but its interesting that you say you have never felt this way.

  Maybe your inner consciousness is trying to tell you something. Is it time to change jobs? Stop being an elder? I know you have struck a balance in staying in the org...something I couldn't do for very long once I figured out the lie....

  who has them, etc???

  Probably because it is the "golden ticket" to get into the meeting. Just like the kids getting into Willy Wonka's factory, no ticket means no admittance. Plus if one got into the wrong hands, no doubt they could get into the meeting and learn all of the latest cult techniques...
