I was checking on my mom after my father died back in January. She is 70. Many times I offered my 18 year old son to play chauffer for her. He wasn't brought up a JW. She refused and basically blamed me after the last articles about making sure to have nothing to do with DF'd, DA. So fine, I don't call her any more. I figure the next time I have contact with my sister will be when she calls me to let me know my mom has passed.

Do you feel moved or obligated to check in on JW family?
by mamalove inif you are being shunned, do you ever feel out of obligation that you should be the bigger person and check in on parents or siblings who are still jw's and have nothing to do with you?
i have reached out to my sibling and get zero back.
it hurts, and i am angry about it, yet from time to time i still feel a tenderness in my heart and let it be known that the love and care and concern is there.

I was starting to fade and realized I couldn't be a hypocrite like I had seen so many others. So I quit, DA'd myself. I was 25 and raised in. 21 years later, my mother still hasn't accepted the fact.

A question for the ladies
by I quit! ini'm wondering if all women are like this.
my wife is always saying she doesn't have any shoes to go with this or that.
right now we're getting ready to go on vacation.

I'm a single mom with two teenage boys. They don't understand it, but they know that I must have shoes and more shoes. It has become flip flops and more flip flops because we live in Florida and I don't have to have the dress shoes for work or JW reasons. (I wear the same steel toe boots everyday to work). I have done my part for their future wives.
I am currently planning a trip to an island and I have a friend who says I only need one or two pairs of my flip flops, I looked at her like she was insane. I have to have the black ones for this outfit, the glitter ones for that one and I could go on and on.

So i'm out treat or treating and I come home with a dog! WTFrick??
by watersprout inso we are out treat or treating and i notice a dog very distressed howling and shaking with fear... so i try and approach her but she starts growling at me.
carrot rings the doorbell of the house that she is hiding on and the people have never seen her before... quite a few neighbours come out and we eventually win her round... she is terrified and very disorientated.... we scoure the streets looking for her owners but to no avail... all we can gather from her behaviour is that she was most likely thrown from a car... she has not long finished whelping a litter and is clearly distressed... we end up bringing her back for the night and has not left carrot alone... she has been lying on him, licking and kissing him.
all she has wanted is to be curled up on his lap.... obviously he is her saviour!

So would she classify as a Trick or a Treat?

The Van Morrison song just blew me away. He seriously must have been confused about where he was. Sounds like a Southern Penecostal church to me. Getting the spirit, rocking the building. Maybe the others are from after I left in 1990?

Hello--new to the witnesses...and you
by LKM injust wanted to introduce myself.
i went to the kh for the first time 2 weeks ago...and will go again tomorrow.
i don't believe anything witnessy...(i was raised in the assembly of god church and now the closest thing i "do" with religion is yoga or sometimes the buddhist temple).... but the man i'm in love with is a df'd jw (we've been together for 6 years).... and he wants to get reinstated just to talk to his family again (i can assure you he does not believe it).... and he wants his family to accept me because we are about to get married... so, i'm going to meetings...its very interesting, but only because it shows me more about how he was raised.

Good Luck! Unless things have changed in the 21 years I have been out, I think you are going to be pestered about having to study with someone. And I doubt they have changed. I am trying to be positive and have erased and started over a couple of times now. Go along with your guy, keep the smile on your face, don't let your real feelings show. He gets reinstated and then can be inactive. The family will talk to him and you. We are here for support.

It seems to me I used to see them more often. We had a group going around our neighborhood and I told my kids they weren't JW because they were all wearing jeans. Sure enough, some other church was having a special thing going on.

Wow, those elders seem rather lax. Most of my rather large JW family worked at fast food restuarants. SO of course the only days we all had off were Christmas and Thanksgiving. We were told that it didn't look good to the neighbors, that we must be celebrating the holidays, so we weren't supposed to have any family gatherings on the holidays. This year I have contacted my cousins who are all DF and we will be spending some time together for the holidays. This will be the first time I will spend time with my family in 21 years. Facebook is a wonderful thing. So there will be at least 4 of us bad terrible cousins and their mom/stepmom all getting together.
