I forgot to add JWD helped me realise it was all a con, along with other sites, back in 2006, so I've been around 5 years even though this login is not as long and I don't think I joined for a while after I started lurking (to scared the watchtower would track me down lol)

Are we losing members quicker than the WT ??
by wobble inreading a thread from just a few months ago, made me realise that a lot of people who used to be regular contributors here no longer do so.. i know that people have always moved on, as the anger and hurt get less, as the wt mind-set totally disappears, we feel the need to come here less and less, but because of the intelligence, insight, wit and wisdom of these people, the board is somewhat impoverished each time one of these moves on.. this is a plea to all who post now, and some who still read but don't post, please do not leave us entirely, the contributions on here are literally life-saving for many.
it is easy to get dangerously suicidal when the whole wt pack of cards falls down for you.. please do not become a stranger to us !.

I am actually on here just about daily. I have a JWD habit, on my iphone, from which I cannot post I also lost my old login "breaking_free". I have a void I need to fill with reading JWD, and it is insatiable, I often go to sleep far to late because I'm up reading. My husband hates it. He can't understand why I don't just leave it behind. He hates what he lost/put up with while in and doesn't want to know anything about what goes on inside anymore. Maybe I'm just more concerned about my family because I think they're nice people on the inside and I want to keep abreast of whats going on, particularly if there's anything to watch out for that could affect my relationship with them (i have been faded for 5 years). Does anyone else have a similar problem? Perhaps we need a JWD anon site
PS - when will we be able to post from iphone, or how can i get to the website rather than the iphone skin site?

Demonstrations From the Platform
by DarioKehl ingood evening, all.... still relatively new here so if i'm posting about a topic that's already been run into the ground, i apologize.
but i just wanted to acknowledge the typical "demo" we all see at meetings, assemblies and conventions.
even back when i was a good-goody teen dub, my brother, friends and i would jokingly refer to demos as "5-minute illustrations on how to say 'no.'".

What a brilliant post! And a perfect summary of the formula used in these demos, they always seemed unique until I read that. I now know why my family frowns on my iPhone even though they never seemed to have a problem with my JasJam (which had very slow, not very usable internet) lol!
For some reason I personally never applied the direction TM given in these demos, I made excuses to myself as to why it didn't apply to me but often felt guilty that I was not one of these amazing spiritual people in the soliloquies.
I guess I was stupid enough to believe that some people really were as spiritually minded TM as they appeared on the demos, but in reality I guess they were all lying to various degrees!!

To all you apostates out there - aka failed JW's
by donnye inby opening this post, you are admitting that you are failures - well done!
lol.
i must say, i have had so much fun on this site - some real laugh out loud moments for my friends and i to enjoy.. no need to respond - i am busy pioneering from tomorrow, so will no longer have time on my hands to sit at my pc enjoying laughing at your pathetic comments.

Is he for real? He said on another post he hasn't been to a meeting in 2 1/2 years, and told an elder he had problems with the truth he needed to get his head around. I doubt they will be letting him pioneer any time soon... he also seemed rather anti JW in earlier posts, going along with topics until the one on the anti-jw pamphlet. Weird...

Article - Blood Refusal by Pregnant Women "a 65-fold increased risk of death"
by BluesBrother inthis article gives a frank assessment of the risks, see paragraph 2 where he says that they place themselves in "exceptional jeopardy" -.
" with obstetric hemorrhage being the second-leading cause of maternal mortality in the united states, pregnant jehovah's witnesses who refuse all blood transfusion are in exceptional jeopardy, having a 65-fold increased risk of death.4 it is of paramount importance for clinicians caring for pregnant jehovah's witnesses to understand the relevant ethical and legal constructs and to be well versed in the management and alternatives available to this population.".
it is a long and technical article which, i hope, will interest those with some medical knowledge but is understandable by anybody..i was particularly interested in the sub heading "informed consent" and the third paragraph discussing the wide variety of answers given on the "health care proxies" it seems that nearly 10% would accept red blood cells, which are strictly forbidden.

As much as I abhor the blood policy, I must say I feel the 65% more likely to die from haemorrhage due to blood refusal is utter crap. What leads to so many haemorrhages in the first place has a lot to do with modern obstetric management and less to do with women who need 'saving' from natural childbirth. For instance, C-sections greatly increase the likelyhood a blood transfusion will be needed, and c-sections are often needed after a cascade of interventions that were unnecessary and harmful. Traction on the cord is another biggie as is incomplete manual removal of placenta, oxytocin (actually used to reduce blood loss, but can lead to retention of the placenta), etc, etc.
I do not expect everyone to agree with my views on this by any means, my point is that you can't just put blinkers on and say that women who choose no blood are putting themselves at a much greater risk of death, but also that women who choose a "medicalised" and often mismanaged labour and birth through an American or other hospital where birth is over "medicalised" are putting themselves at a much greater risk of harm or death.
Post-partum haemorrhage is a real complication that can happen in any case, my point is obstetric practices can often put women at greater risk of such things, despite the fact they claim to make birth "safer".

Confessions of a Wayward Pioneer
by Giordano infrank was concerned that they might be dumping them in the woods or something so he wanted me to check it out.. i had a hard time convincing h and h to let me join them in service, finally i dropped a few hints that i was a pretty laid back brother who didn't always follow wtbts policy......... which wasn't far from the truth.
this guy was hard core.

Edward de Bono
by stuckinlimbo ini have been reading some of his books lately, namely the "thinking course", "h+ the new religion?
" and "i'm right and you're wrong".
i find his writing style to be rather arrogant and both of these books that i have, out ofthe many he has written, contain passages that are exactly the same.

I have been reading some of his books lately, namely the "thinking course", "H+ the new religion?" and "i'm right and you're wrong". I find his writing style to be rather arrogant and both of these books that I have, out ofthe many he has written, contain passages that are exactly the same. The "H+" book seems to be quite dictatorial and is literal about the religion thing, it's like he's tring to establish a new cult. Even more disturbing asking that fines be sent to him for not doin the required number of "pons" (positive actions) per day (albeit you set the number between 2 and 4) and he even describes a sequence of secret signals for identifying other H+ adherents. I thought it was a joke at first but as I read on it was not a joke, he provides the address to send your monetary fines to. For someone spouting that they are teaching people how to think, this book seems to have many hallmarks of trying to establish a cult (special words, self praise, dictatorial language). It is just very "instructive" and almost condecending. He spends a lot of time saying what the book will say, even 50 pages odd in. Also he talks himself up a lot. Oh and he quotes himself within the book alongside an older established philosopher even putting his quote in latin and then translating it back to english
I also am annoyed that another book I got entitled "the happiness bug" which has commentry by de Bono but is written by another author whose name escapes me just now, makes a big plug for "dianetics" and scientology, and has quotes in it such as "happiness is the line of least resistance, go with the flow" I mean thank goodness many people do not do that
My question is, considering how great this guy is supposed to be, am I alone in my negative feelings towards these books? Has anyone else read any of his books, what did you think of them/ I am still waiting on 6 thinking hats, form the library, maybe it is better. Any thoughts?

Hey undercover, I heard recently about some pioneer sisters like that, and everyone seems to turn a blind eye apparently. Nothing wrong with it IMHO but they are quite delusional yes. I find it terribly funny though!! And kind of good that even the most seemingly devout can be bad lol!

Wish I could do that but I feel too bad for my parents so I faded and just berate my mother about how ludicrous it is from time to time and then apologise for upsetting her, etc, etc. They mean well so I don't do anything blatant but I fantasise about being able to do what you did. Well done
