Ugly brothers?
by dgp into respond to serenity now's question on another thread (http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/191790/2/ugly-sisters, let me start this thread about ugly brothers in congregations.
women, speak freely if you will.
were there any hot men in your congregations, i mean, men you wouldn't think twice about marrying?

My group of friends included a very sexy (in a rough and tumble way) brother. Not the sort of guy you want to marry as a total slob, but have a crazy fling with hell yeah.
We all fancied him, but he married a Nicole Kidman look alike. They later got divorced and are both out of the Borg.

I don't think spirituality has much to do with it in our part of the world. If you wanted a decent looking JW husband you needed to be thin, pretty and giggle insanely plus never let slip that you had a mind of your own.
I often felt I was living in the world of Pride and Prejudice only there were no Mr Darcy's. I saw plenty of Charlotte Lucus's and Mr Coliins's though. For non Jane Austin fans these are women who would marry whoever asked them no matter how awful and had to make the best of it and obnoxious stupid men who felt they were in a buys market and that any sister was theirs for the asking.

Would You "Technically" Remain A Jehovah's Witness If There Were No Sanctions Involved?
by minimus inmany of us have drifted.
we know it isn't the truth but we might not have officially resigned as jws.
many catholics are nominal catholics and they are not shunned or avoided because of their not going to church or confession.. would you remain a jw if the organization didn't punish you for your inactivity?.

Since Leaving "The Truth" Are You Really Happier?
by minimus inwitnesses say that when people leave "the truth", they get involved in a debauched life, misery, and general unhappiness.. they give experiences of some that left the "sweet fellowship" of the "brotherhood" and the awful results because of it.
then, they come back and their lives change 100% for the better!.
have you found life to be miserable and unproductive since "leaving jehovah"?.

When I was in the Borg I was miserable, plus the last few years of being in nearly broke my marriage.
So am I happier? Hell yeah!
So life isn't perfect that's ok at least when things go wrong I no longer think I am being punished or tested.

How do you express that you like the people but hate the organization?
by lepermessiah inis it possible in jw land?.
my family notices that i am uncomfortable around jw's at this point..... i keep telling them that i like the people, but i know what comes along with being "friends" with jw's....its conditional, unless you get someone who is willing to be your friend on the "down-low".
also, the conversations always center around congregation activities, organizational bs, etc......... i was at a gathering a while back, and it was hard to find a group discussing something "normal" .

I like some of the people in the Borg, couldn't care less about others and there are one or two I hate, but that’s another thread.
How I express it is that on the whole I have as little to do with the Borg as possible, but still talk to and am friendly towards the JWs I like. By my actions people can see how I feel.
I am done pretending everything is ok when it clearly isn’t JW land.
Terry, I am sorry to hear about how you were abandoned it still makes me angry and sad when I read experiences like yours. We think these people are our friends and they abandon us without a second thought. At least in the end we have the last laugh.

Sorry to bring this up but wasn't Satan the instigator of sin and because man sinned he dies so therefore Satan is responsible in part for all the human deaths from Adam onwards even the ones God killed as a result of their sin.

Hi everyone
I was born-in to a family with a JW mum and a nonbelieving dad so grew up fairly confused. For the early years I had birthdays and Christmas, but then it suddenly all stopped which I found heart breaking.
I love my mum very much and probably for her sake I tried to be a good JW, but I really didn't have the heart for it. In my early 20's I started dating a non JW (Spawn) who I married so that pretty much ended my being a JW for a while. However, as I said I loved my mum and so after a few years my hubby and I started going to a few meetings and eventually started studying as a couple.
So here I was back in the JW fold, however, I still couldn't make it work any better than before. In 2006 I had my first son and as many new mums will understand found getting to meetings hard. Both hubby and I did not want to take the baby out at night and then there were problems in the cong. I could not understand why Jehovah would allow such hypocracy.
The final straw came when my eldest sisters husband was made a Elder despite us voicing concerns about his abusive behaviour. We never went to another meeting after that. For a long time I thought it was just our cong, but a conversation last Dec changed that.
My son was now 3 and I was expecting my second child and planning a big Christmas celebration the first in years. The pre-school nativity had just happened and my son had proudly played a shepherd. Then I got a call from one of my sisters (I have 3) she was concerned that if my eldest sister found out my son had been in the nativity that she would have grounds for me to be dissfellowshiped. After I told her I didn’t care it transpired that she and her hubby had doubts and were actually fading from the Org.
Thanks to them I was directed to this site and found all you fab guys and gals. It was truly a light bulb moment and though I have my wobble days on the whole life is good. I feel free to be myself without the JW label and that is a wonderful feeling.

Encounter with JW's take two...
by highdose inmy doorbell rang about 30mins ago, standing out side was a 30 somthing man and a very very young boy.
the young boy mumbled and stuttered and limply waved about a awake magazine at me.
i told him i wasn't interested because his religon had a bigger child abuse problem than the cathloic church, the difference is jw's cover it up better.
