I never felt encouraged, but what could you expect from a bunch of poorly educated window cleaners whose only religious understanding comes from reading badly researched articles full of twisted scriptures and cult propaganda.

Was it encouraging or defeating when you heard counsel to do more ?
by troubled mind insmall things from our recent elder visit keep popping up in my mind .
one thing we discussed was how much pressure we felt in the congregation to keep doing more , more ,more .......i said that it caused us to never feel we were ever good enough !
if you are not meeting the national average you were treated like a slacker .

i've been lurking for 3-4 years.. i was baptized in 1981 and served as a ms and regular pioneer for some time.
started fading around 7 years ago when we moved to a different part of the country.

You sound really well adjusted to life outside the Borg which is great plus having family and friends with you I think does make leaving a bit easier. However, its surprising how deep JW conditioning goes as you said it feels like such a big step posting for the first time on JWN.

Are you so faded that Actives no longer encourage but respect you?
by Wasanelder Once ini know it sounds strange but all the jw's i have contact with are no longer "encouraging" me to attend meetings.
in fact not one of them invited me to the memorial even though we had dinner together at my house three nights before.
i think i have them totally bamboozled with my reasoning why i don't attend.

We are in a similar situation not DF'd or DA'd, I think the JW friends we still have don't want to lose us as friends so they just don't talk religion with us anymore. This way they won’t hear anything they would have to report to the Borg and can still talk to us.

Elder called last night and they are stopping by tonite for a 'visit'.......
by troubled mind insurprised me that he actually followed up on his word and called .
it will be strange after four yrs.
to have them in our house .my husband was not happy to hear it will be two brothers coming over, because he really does not want to feel we are being counseled .

Ugly Sisters
by XPeterX ino.k i have noticed that most female jws are ugly.and by ugly i mean ugly.they won't work out,they are fat and won't go on a diet (some female teens won't even shave their legs),they neglect their appearance/body in general.any opinions?.

p.s many will eventually get fat after marriage.

When I was a single sister you couldn't afford to be fat or look like a dog’s breakfast. I worked out was very thin and took care of my appearance and most girls I knew did the same. I like to think I am ok looking and most girls I knew were attractive if not beautiful.

If You Weren't In Rapt Attention What Did You Think About During The Meetings?

at the end i started making excuses to leave (supposedly work related) so that i could just get out of there.
i wanted a drink!.

Depending on the meeting:
Sunday's - What to cook for lunch or where I was going out that evening.
Tuesday's (book study) - Work or school stuff.
Thursday's - Same as Tues, but also would think about the weekend and going out.
My mind wanders easily, I even fell asleep a few times.

I just didn't go that much either, but I still remember being forced to go out with Cantleave and Nugget when I visited. All I wanted to do was hang out and have fun you party poopers!
When I did go out I liked country territory long drives to get there, houses nicely spaced apart. If you’re lucky you could do 3 maybe 4 houses in an hour and most would be not-at-homes.
