I am Canadian and love my country. sad we just lost our former finance minister Jim Flaherty
who brought us through the latest recession with flying colors.
i will never appologize for being a canadian.
my familly has lived here for about 300 years.
we have seen tribulation and tumult ,good times and bad.

i went with my neighbor to an outdoor shooting range in the pawnee national grasslands in colorado.

once 34 years ago and grateful for it. stil out
but their views on blood are just plain weird!
meat has blood in it even if it's bled.
still eating meat means consuming blood.
definitely door to door and secondly only J.W.s would survive the big one
as i grew up in the religion, i was a 10. i wanted to be made a "servant" because that was instilled in me from infancy.
i diligently studied ever piece of watchtower literature and defended my religion intensely.. when i got into my 30's, i started to see little cracks in the watchtower's surface but decided to "wait on jehovah".
then i started to research a little more critically and realized i couldn't defend the prophecies, the treatment of people and the hypocrisy that was becoming more obvious, that especially an elder can see.. it was a gradual thing---from a 10 to a zero!.
about a 5-6
i believe it is mostly guilt.
many witnesses pioneer or "reach out" in the religion because they feel guilty.. they may feel they aren't doing enough.
they may have secretly "sinned" against rules imposed by the organization.
I fully agree with finklestein, my thoughts exactly.
so during the serve-us meeting last night an elder says something really dumb..as usual.
it was the km part about doing better in field serve-us.
they are discussing how to reach people, and how to be nice, blah, blah.. the eldub says, "we want to be kind to our neighbors, and talk to them and take an interest.
What happened to love thy neighbor as thyself. What a hypocrite
we had an elder that regularly drank wine and other cocktails.
he would come to night meetings, including elder meetings, shall we say, "feeling good".. we had an elder that was losing it and failing because of old age/dementia.
i knew a lot of elder's wives that were on meds in order to function but i wasn't aware of elders under the influence of drugs.
I remember our P.O. would come reeking of alcohol.
He also was a closet smoker and got caught and
was removed.
i don't know about the rest of you, but i have seen my fair share of death.
both sets of grandparents, aunts and uncles, older jws that were pillars in the community.
i even knew the first missionary in missouri, a brother named gerald golf.
my grandfather died in 1970 at age 93 thinking the end would come in his day
my parents died father 1988, mother 2000 both believing they would see the end.
