by The_Doctor10 insam harris did this interview with megan phelps formerly of the infamous westboro baptist church, and i got to say holy $#!
@ the parallels to jw indoctrination/beliefs is actually pretty astonishing.. http://www.samharris.org/blog/item/leaving-the-church.
highly recommend everyone listen to this interview, especially if you're on the fence about continuing as a jw or in any other overbearing cult/religion..

Same here OneEyedJoe, they're insanely similar, just get JWs to picket with vitriol or get the Westboro to stop picketing and the differences are negligible. -

There was a cart outside a local courthouse, thought it seemed fitting as the WTS will be at many courts fighting Child Abuse cases.
As a side note, the two sisters sitting this particular cart were of the plumper variety, probably should be the ones out walking door to door to shed some weight and get healthy, but nope just sitting there racking up easy hours. I guess they don't take care of themselves because, hey, why get healthy in this system, they can be skinny in the new system lol

July Broadcast Denies That JW Children Die Rather Than Have Medical Care
by BluesBrother inanthony morris 3rd delivered the broadcast this month and advised that lies are circulated that they let children die rather than have medical care .
he says this is so inaccurate as to be a boldfaced lie ...... further he says it is "up to the parents to determine what would be the best treatment for their children" .
now, does this mean that parents are really free to make a decision to accept blood for their minor child, if they so choose?
-
The_Doctor10
Just a bunch of misleading statements and outright lies.
Plus he's omitting the psychological effect that the JW doctrine about blood holds over believers. Sure, they can choose to give their kid blood or not, BUT that choice is dictated by blind adherence to what the WTS has told them they should do or out of fear of judicial action/disfellowshipping.
Using the line, "JWs do not refuse medical treatment," is a misnomer. We're talking directly in this case about a refusal of blood transfusion, not medical treatment as a whole. The point is, given the choice between 'Blood or Death' many JW R&F will feel compelled to, either by blind adherence of doctrine or through fear of consequence, choose death.
In this scenario, a parent let a child die specifically due to belief taught by the WTS, to say she was free to make the choice is to belie all that is involved in that choice.
Truly despicable what the GB is capable of getting away with just because the R&F wholly put their faith in their connection to "Holy Spirit."
This is where the quote from Steven Weinberg comes in and explains so efficiently,
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Religous Trauma Syndrome
by Blind_Of_Lies inhttp://www.rawstory.com/2015/07/religious-trauma-syndrome-how-some-organized-religion-leads-to-mental-health-problems/ .
check this story out and please share on social media!
i firmly believe 100% of jw's are suffering from the first stage of rts and a high percentage of people who are now out are also suffering.

Awesome article! Definitely can categorize a lot of exJWs or current JWs as experiencing symptoms of RTS.
Religion, and especially authoritarian Religion forms beliefs and worldviews for people that inform their entire lives, the belief overtakes their own intuitions forcing people to fit a mold or feel like a failure/outcast.
Like I've said before, talking with a JW can be an incredibly enjoyable experience, they can be the nicest people you talk to, but to dig down to the core of what they believe is going to happen to the world and to those who don't believe the way they do, is to find something truly horrific.

Why Is This New Batch of Governing Body Members So Stupid?
by Brokeback Watchtower inwell there are lots of reason for sure, denial, delusion, wishful thinking, ego maniac, infantile understanding of ancient writings, satanophobia, xenophobia, out of touch with reality, limited choices scrapping the bottom of the barrel, and many more.. listen to this ted talk and see if you can pick out something that helps explain why these guys are such ass holes:.
organizations are often run according to the superchicken model, where the value is placed on star employees who outperform others.
and yet, this isnt what drives the most high-achieving teams.

This GB just wants its faces out there, they came out from behind the curtain and showed themselves...to be complete idiots. Especially Morris, a special brand of religitard that one is, his annual meeting talk made me want to vomit, he's just an idiotic bigot.
Before the GB showed up on the scene they were a mysterious entity, now they broke the spell and showed themselves for the old religious bigots that they are.

WT Society Makes Light of Child Abuse Crimes by Portraying them as Cartoons
by flipper ini commented on this on another thread- but i believe this has enough importance to create a thread about this situation in and of itself.
at the current district convention as you know the wt society released a " sophie & caleb " video allegedly warning parents about the dangers of child abuse.
they don't really use the words " child abuse " in the video - but just say if " someone tries to touch you in a manner you aren't comfortable with " and portray it as a cartoon !

Just shows the disconnect between the GB and reality. They have no training in these matters, they're a group of idiots running a worldwide organization. -

If you had any doubts about the pitifully poor mental prowess of Watchtower and JWs in general ...
by Island Man inif you had any doubts about the pitifully poor mental prowess of watchtower and jws in general then i'm sure this week's watchtower study (week of june 15-21, 2015) completely obliterated such doubts.
the study article (watchtower april 15, 2015, page 19: how real is your relationship with jehovah?
) was filled with blatantly fallacious reasoning that were outdone only by the more fallacious reasoning on the part of commenting jws.. the article, in paragraph 2, says this about a relationship with jehovah:.

It's absolutely asinine what the GB preaches about if you feel Jehovah's approval from your relationship with/prayer to him.
The scripture says something very different, Jesus said at John 14: 13,14 "Also, whatever you ask in my name, I will do this, so that the Father may be glorified in connection with the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it."
What's there to feel here? It's completely unambiguous what Jesus says here, 'ask in my name and you'll receive it.' No caveats, no conditions, no "well I may or may not answer," or "only under situations that could be just coincidence will I answer your petitions."
So if I ask in faith (which I did back when faith was actually a part of my life) "Please help the _______ family stay strong in the truth through the trial they're facing." That prayer should definitely be answered, it meets every criteria you can throw at it, it's in line with "Gods will," it's not of selfish pursuit, it was made in complete faith... yet that family left the "truth," what gives? Prayer is bogus is what gives, either Jehovah heard my prayer and didn't care to answer it, or he heard but couldn't answer, or his answer was to let them go in which case what happened to his "desire all to attain to repentance" schtick and if that was going to be the outcome anyway why pray at all? Or the simplest and most concise reason, he doesn't exist at all, so of course the prayer went unanswered.

I'm hoping this interview finds its way to as many curious JWs as possible, see if it makes them question themselves. -

I hate the fact that we'll probably never see a GB member interviewed in such a manner. Would love to see the likes of Sam Harris or Richard Dawkins interviewing a JW elder or especially a member of the GB asking them such hard questions.
