  Are You Concerned About Inflation?

  i saw a statistic the other day that something like 25% of all the debt that the us has incurred since 1776 was created in the last 12 months.

  that's because they have printed so much currency and instead of letting that stop them, they are going to continue printing more to go on a spending spree on crazy green-new-deal schemes and union handouts.. does anyone think that this can be anything other than inflationary?

  they are effectively stealing the wealth of everyone to then hand money out to people.

  It seems to me that there is high demand for hard assets right now. Real estate, stocks, physical gold and silver, classic cars and even collectibles like hockey cards and digital art. People are trying to hedge against inflationary pressures.

  Am I afraid of inflation. No as it is a normal part of our economic system right now. Hyper inflation, yes. Be very afraid. If the central banks can’t keep a lid on inflationary pressures we are all screwed. Zimbabwe or Venezuela are examples of financial collapse. You can’t even leave because the government can’t afford to buy the paper to print passports.

  Modern monetary theory says that printing money doesn’t create inflation, scarcity of goods and services does. That is why new fiat currency into the economy has to be tied to the gdp somehow.

  That is why guaranteed income is Bad. The economy can’t give currency to people for producing nothing. This will create shortages and prices will skyrocket

  We have really only seen inflation since getting off the gold standard even though I don’t believe in it. I’m a believer in a well managed fiat economy with equitable lending policies as it gives poor people a chance to climb the ladder. Reasonable, managed inflation is good for the economy IMO.

  i have a family member who is a remote bethelite and they are working on creating content for online "university" for bethelites to teach them skills that are needed at bethel.

  from what i've seen it is a lot of recorded content saved on their sharepoint sites.

  i haven't seen any information on this from this site or reddit which i'm more active on.

  with the lawsuits, downsizing and decreasing numbers.

  what they use to be is gone and they will never recover the numbers they once had.

  I’d be curious to know the percentage of born in Jehovah’s witnesses and converts. By my observation born ins go through the motions to be part of the club. Converts are the real believers because they gave up everything(family, career old religion) and need to rationalize their sunk costs.

  Field service has been a joke for the last 20 years. Driving to the furthest territory, knocking on the door of an empty house to turn around and have a double double at brother Tim Hortons. But you can count 2 hours.

  They are in major decline because no one cares. It happened the same in the USSR. No one believed anymore, not even the leadership.

  The bar has continuously been lowered for the last several decades. Pioneer hour requirements have gone from 100, 90, 70. Now there are no hour requirements for pioneers because of covid and average joe publishers can report as little as 15 minutes per month. I think vidiot is on the right track. The jws are running scared and need to keep the numbers of active publishers up.

  a couple of years ago the wt began their program of selling off dedicated kingdom halls and consolidating congregations into fewer halls.. had they kept these halls, more sparsely occupied as they were, they could by now be bringing everyone back while respecting the distancing laws.. jw’s love to find reasons how jehovah foresaw something and guided them, but it never works the other way when they make a decision that later on turns out to have been a bad idea..

  3rd generation businesses fail at a rate of 90%. This is where the jws are at now. Most companies gave up on unprofitable door to door sales in the 1970’s but the jws continued until 2020. Businesses that rely on a bricks and mortar presence are also on the way out. The watchtower is so big and has such an ineffective bureaucracy that they can’t react fast enough to market signals. One of our elders is an HVAC tech and had to get permission from a committee to fix the broken furnace in the Kingdom Hall.
