Reading between the lines this is what he is saying.
If the bethelites can raise 10 grand on their small salary what's wrong with you ? You materialistic bastards.
bro sanderson has a 7 minute video up on their streaming website called "be willing to open your hand".. in it he tells us not to be "tight fisted" or "stingy" and later "regardless of how much we have or how little we have, we'll find something within our power to be able to do".
we have the responsibility to imitate jehovah's generosity.. there's a bit about giving to one another when we see the need, which is nice, then he drops in how 20 years ago the canada branch committee asked the bethel family for donations to the disaster relief fund, and promptly raised over $10,000.
i think that's pretty good going for those under a vow of poverty.. "the generous person will prosper" he says, then illustrates this using a made up story.

12-15-66: investigating house and household objectsone under demon attack should calmly, not in hysteria, investigate his house and household articles.
in some few cases the house may be the cause of trouble and the best thing to do is move out.
in may's "we will never solicit for money, but now we're going to solicit you for the next hour" broadcast, we kept hearing about all the "facts" that the gb would like for us to know.. hmm...what facts did they leave out?.
-- $millions have been spent in out-of-court settlements of child abuse cases.
-- $untold amounts are being spent on legal defense of wt policies related to child abuse.
so i went to get a burger just now, and a couple of elders from my former congregation caught me off guard.
they started giving me the we feel so sorry for you, you must be so lonely bit.
i kept telling them im doing great and im not lonely but its like they couldnt hear me talking.
But before I do, I'm going to play them to see how far they are willing to go. Consider it a social experiment.
I'd be willing to bet you could go all the way with at least one of them. But be prepared for a judicial committee because most likely their cult training would kick in after the fact and they'd confess to the elders.
i was just thinking of something i observed on a visit to bethel some years back, that at the time struck me as odd, but now that i look back on it, it might be revealing about their financial situation.
please feel free to agree/disagree with me and also bear in mind this is some years back so my memory may be sketchey.
i remember walking into the front entrance of the bethel to do a tour.
i'm ignorant to the social welfare programs outside the us, but listening to others i have to assume in europe it is more generous.
i've not had deep personal conversation with active witnesses for nearly 20 years.
last year i made contact with a family and some elders came to my house.
I know an elder who refused to take a good paying job to provide for his growing family because he would have to work every other Saturday morning.
Instead he does odd jobs, collects food stamps and other handouts and "takes the lead in the ministry"
as a very young child i have memories of several book burnings done by jw families.
it wasn't something arranged by the congregation, but elders did participate in it.
it was actually scary for me as a child of only about 8 years old.
i saw a rumor a few weeks ago on reddit that the new imitate jesus convention is supposed to present new light and clarified understandings on the disfellowshipping/disassociation practices.. supposedly, if this rumor has any truth to it, there will be a talk given at the convention about how we should not be strict like the pharisees in how we shun people, loosening up some of the jw rules about this practice.. has anyone here heard anything about this or have more info on it?.
the latest watchtower certainly indicates that the org thinks they are!!
why keep in expectation?

I was a born in indoctrinated by parents who were kool aid sipping Jws. I have to admit I was gullible as gullible gets. I drank the kool aid. I wholeheartedly believed all the bs in the revelation book as if it was from jehoover himself.
That was a result of my ultra orthodox jw upbringing. I knew of nothing else and was afraid of apostates.
So when you talk disparagingly of people who are gullible go easy on them. It may be their parents fault. Also realize there is a chance that they will change. I did.
