There was a leaked video of him on the pid commenting on the good looking sisters on the department and how they could get you in trouble
He seems like a slimeball

Canada exploring changes to tax rules that exempt religious organizations
by Scully inhttps://www.christianpost.com/news/evangelicals-oppose-removal-of-tax-status-in-canadian-proposal.html.
the proposed change will revoke charitable status of canadian churches who have an anti-abortion position, and will not give tax exemptions to organizations whose sole claim is to promote religion, which is the basic claim for all jw related entities in canada.
this will be interesting!.

Your country has term limits, we do not
We can get stuck with a bad prime minister for a loooong time.
Old man Trudeau was in power for 16 years and it took another 16 to get out of the mess he created.
Pierre jr aka Justine trudeau has been in for 10 years and the country is a financial mess

Reddit thread - ‘Organization Finally Suggesting to Plan for Retirement’
by LongHairGal inthis information is supposed to be in the upcoming march wt.
(i don’t go on jw dot org).
it would sound like they are hinting at a change in thinking.. in my opinion, any such change would be yet another slap in the face to faithful pimis along with those other recent changes.. there are so many heartfelt responses on that thread and a lot of justified anger.. don’t know what to say except that i’m so glad i never listened to the religion all those years ago.

Jehovahs witnesses were never stopped from working full time or saving for retirement.
They we’re just treated badly in the congregation.
No privileges and minimal association outside of the meetings.
I’ve been the recipient of a marking talk for being open about some of the investments I have.
The Jay dubs want to keep you hand to mouth poor. You are easier to control that way.

The new law if enacted would not allow charity status to organizations that don’t do charity work. Recruitment and retaining members is not charity and the government wants to close this loophole.
They wouldn’t be able to issue tax receipts for donations received. In theory either more income tax would be paid which can go to social programs or the money would be donated to the local soup kitchen or food bank which relieves the government of the responsibility
Canada is in a political turmoil right now and there is a good chance that parliament will be dissolved so this bill might not make it to law.

If they had to pay property tax on their real estate holdings it would definitely put a dent in their finances.
The general idea of government funding is it should help all citizens, not just a select few that believe in a certain way.

My wife was/is soft shunned for not(at the time) having a large enough number on her field service report.
Somewhere in my early 30’s I gave up on reaching out and started putting together a retirement package.

If the bar is set too high many will give up.
I think the trick to saving is tricking yourself into thinking you don’t have the money for spending.
Set up your bank account so that a small amount is taken every month or every week and directly deposited into a tax deferred account(rrsp) in Canada . $50 per month is what I’ve done. I didn’t miss the $50 but now after 20 years I’ve got over $20,000 in that account and I didn’t even pay attention to rates of returns. I could have done better if I would have watched the investment closer.
Another financial hack is that when you reach a milestone like paying off a car loan or get a raise at work. Keep making the car payment into a different account or the amount your paycheck is larger. At least for a while. Then forget you have that money.
It takes self control and discipline but I’d rather live a slightly lower standard of living while I’m able to work than be destitute and unable to work.
