  just polling: what are some of your favorite classic and/or obscure video/computer games?.

  lately i've been having an absolute blast with a pc engine emulator called "ootake.

  " if you're not familiar with the pc engine, it was a console that was huge in japan but flopped in the u.s. as the "turbografx-16".

  me: right now, i'm less than 48hrs away from a jc hearing in which i will likely be df'd for apostasy.. .

  tnb: do you feel the wtbts has any power or hold on you, if not why attend a jc.

  you don't have to attend, unless of course you have information you want to point out to them.

  I talk to my mom a lot about my views on the WT. Luckily she doesn't feel compelled to "turn me in."

  i came to the belated realization that the way the org is structured is simply based on the classic 1950's corporate model.

  note the similarities.

  they are just another failing business.. board of directors- governing body.

  I think paradise earth is bogus.

  I believe humans have the power to make it a reality. But as far as the white-horse-sword-out-of-mouth-jesus-kill-all-on-earth-except-jws paradise earth, no.

  as many of us know, the shunning policy is a useful tool to the wts.. it helps to retain members by force, holding family members hostage.. many members go back, not because they believe in what is being taught.

  by the wts, but out of the human need to have the love and affection from.

  their loved ones still in.

  Mind Control

  so i've been reading stephen hassan's book on mind control and he made an interesting point that made me think about myself.

  he asks the question, "what makes some people just walk out of cults on their own, while others require much harsher measures from others to get them out?".

  most of you know that i was thoroughly indoctrinated as a jw.

  What got me thinking was when I was following what the WT was telling me to do... reading the Bible daily.

  I started with Genesis and when I got to the "women are mad from a man's rib" part it made me think that the Adam and Eve story was a fable. Then God destroyed just about every living thing on the planet because of a localized group of humans, that just made no sense. Then I got to the Moses story where God kills all the Egyptian kids... that kind of disturbed me. Then the Isaelites become a marauding nation laying waste too all God's "unchosen people" making sure to mention that the slaughtered "every man, woman and child."

  At that point I stopped going to meetings because I needed to figure out if I even wanted to be a follower of the Bible at all lol.
