Verse 6 says that those who brought the water to their mouth lapped, and the others bowed to the water. This didn't make sense to me until I understood it as an allegory. I would expect those who bow to literal water to be more likely to lap while the ones bring it to their mouth in their hand sip.

But I totally agree, addressing infinite, eternal, 'the probability is very low', is not something that should be done since it has nothing to do with anything.
I'm with you. I was just addressing the point the idea that over an infinite time, the probablity of something (or everything) happening is 1, or as some like to put it, everything that can happen will happen.
Obviously if you win the lotto, the probability jumped to 1, but there is nothing that says it HAS to rise to 1.
I am not a statistician, but I do deal with the maths and failure rates a LOT and deal with mean time between failures, stuff that involves probablities and protecting against them.

Why were there to be two groups: one that bowed down to drink, and one that lapped the water like a dog out of their hand (bringing their hand to their mouth)? Wouldn’t there be some who lapped while bowing down? Wouldn’t there be some who would drink from their hand without lapping? Which group would they be put into?
When drinking out of your hand, you don't lap. You're adding to it.

Ah, see, that's NOT right. The probablity goes up over time and approaches one, but never actually reaches it, even over infinity. But again, the creationists use infinity as a strawman.
Well, that's when things with an extremely small probability ratio can happen.
Things with small probability ratios can happen in a finite time universe as well. While probablitites go up in infinite time universes (theoretically). Adressing infinity is a rathole they love to go down and some people dutifully follow them down with the car or watch example. Yes, the probablity goes up, but that doesn't mean it necessarily reaches 1 or even a number meanfully close to that.

Seems to me that going "Green" has become a religion with all the built in prejudices and refusal to consider practical matters.

i know there are other topics related to this, i started one earlier similar to this but here goes anyway.. so i skipped a couple of meetings of the co visit to hang out with some "worldly" friends and we went out of town.
i think some of my closer "friends" at the hall found out from my family and now i am dreading going to the next meeting and hearing their encouring "where were you!?"..
it fills me with anxiety.
WTF are they going to do? Just tell them they were plans you had made and already paid for and couldn't change. Ot don't tell anyone anything. Just say "I was out of town." If someone calls you on it and says "you were having fun with worldly people" just don't answer. Don't even engage. I like the "It was good to chat, but I need to go see so and so before they leave"

if this is so, it is a clever fake, pretending to have been written earlier by an eye-witness to the events, or someone close to an eye-witness.
The accounts of the gospels are as historicly valid as any other ancient manuscript of biography or writing.
