Jw's forcing "niceness" on people

i can't go into details but basically having been off the jw radar for years i'm now firmly back on it.

just recently it feels like i can't move without a jw being in the way!

they are trying a tactic with me which i've seen done many many times when i was a jw myself.

highdose - you see it exactly as it is.

It would be nice if they actually did something nice - instead of (literally) "acting" nice.

So rather than coming round your house to pretend to be of some use to you, helping unburden your many problems that you'd no doubt have as a result of being a non active JW, they simply waste your time... so that they can count time.

Now I'm no longer a JW and not concerned with reporting time, if I'm round someone's house I'm helping them with something, even if it's while having a beer at the same time, there's one less job they have to do.

Nice is about actions not just a fake smile or a "I'll be your best friend only until I conscript you into my cult then I'll drop the act".

Jehovahs Witnesses Plan on Looting the Dead

i've written a new article on what some jehovah's witnesses plan on doing after armageddon strikes.

i am sure you've been around witnesses that have said something like "oh i'm moving into that house after armageddon.".

I recall similar discussions too. Such an irony given how we were taught to be anti materialistic but it's ok to want to be rich beyond our imagination if Jah provides it? I found the idea of looting less offensive compare to the hardened vengeful comments from JW's about how the worldly people would beg to be saved but suffer a terrible painful death at Armageddon. "Oh they'll be sorry all right and we won't be able to save them".

I honestly believe there are plenty of JW's that would have picked up a gun and shot innocent people had they been told to do so from the platform - that kind of control has been exercised before by cults.

In love with a JW...

apologies if this has been discussed before, or is in the wrong forum, but i could really do with some advice.

two years ago i met the love of my life; someone i regard as my soulmate.

he is an active jw and i am a practising church of england person.

Matrix moment - what was it and when did you share it?

It takes a long time to get out of the system because it's all become so familiar. I took a decade to fade, but by the time I did, I'd got qualifications, built up a career, had a surrogate social network at my work and was confident. For years I spent no time with JW's aside from at meetings, and even then I arrived just before the song and left after the prayer.

This is meant to be something refreshing and positive in your life - not a burden or depression inducing. I didn't realise how easy it was to leave in the end - it was my fear that was stopping me.

If it was the truth then you could part from it for many years, subject it to many tests and still be sure it was the truth. Sorry you learned the truth was a lie. Hope it's getting better. This is the first kingdom melody I've heard in 6 years and it doesn't affect me any more.

A. 3 witnesses - 1 to commit the crime and 2 to witness it* **

*unless it's the governing body in which case they are innocent of any crime - please speak to the legal department for clarification

**any crime committed by a witness would be on an entirely voluntary basis and would not be acting on behalf of the WBTS in any way - even if following our strict instrustions using our procedures in a manor we had taught them from infancy while they were reporting regularly to us

Controlling organisation that is always right, lack of disaster response, unbelievable flood explanations, desperate generation teachings, UN, birthdays, dodgy revelation interpretations - frankly it could have been any of these things for me.

Bible story book pictures were inappropriate for children and the stories no better. I recall taking the bible story book into school at the tender age of 6 and having several children gather round while I talked through some of the stories - the page of most interest was Jesus on the stake with nails through his hands. It may be a familiar image in Christian society but still wrong for small children.

I didn't believe most of what the JW's taught for a long time, disliked being a JW, disliked being controlled by damaged people but couldn't get out (wasn't financially independent). I was fading over a long time whilst getting educated. I didn't realise how bad / harmful it was until the BBC Panorama programme on pedophilia - having an outside party verbalising how bad the JW policies were was shocking. I shared this with someone I trusted and knew I was going to exit even if I lost my family.

It was difficult to absorb because all the JW's I'd known for years (some very nice) still seemed like the reality and the shocking TV revelations like the dream. There was simply no defence to the facts of bad WBTS policies that allowed abuse to exist.

Even after I successfully left it was a long time before I really knew the whole truth about the WBTS - JWN being the first JW site I looked at - confirmed so much of my thinking and experience and a whole lot more.

Gossip, gossip, gossip

even though i've been disfellowshipped for several months now (looking forward to my 1 year anniversary).

i did have a brother contact me about one of my siblings who is still "in" and ask me personal questions about them.

he also shared with me a lot of personal info about my sibling that i did not know, obviously my relative shared this information with this brother in confident.. i felt like if my relative wanted me to know they would have told me.

Does he know you're disfellowshipped, if so why does he think it's ok to talk to you? He seems to be full of negative stuff about people - is he negative about any doctrines or being a JW (i.e. field service)? Is he saying these things because he thinks you have a negative view of JW's so feels comfortable sharing this stuff and maybe having doubts or trying to fade?

Gossip is shocking in some KH's - I've not seen anything so bad and worked in lots of environments.
